Frequently Asked Questions on My Merry Christmas
By Jeff Westover     Ask a Question   Discuss in the Merry Forum

Who owns My Merry Christmas?
My Merry Christmas is family owned and is not tied to any corporate or commercial entity. We are a proud member of the Merry Network.

How old is My Merry Christmas?
My Merry Christmas as a domain was established in 1999. But we have been at the merry business for a great deal longer than that. For several years, we operated under the domain "Merry Holidays". And previous to that we operated online via email dating back to 1991.

How did My Merry Christmas begin?
A little girl once doubted the existence of Santa Claus and she began to receive Updates from the North Pole from an elf who was working to convince her. Those updates proved so popular that they were moved first from fax machines to email and then later was morphed into this website. Read more about it here.

Does My Merry Christmas make a lot of money?
No. Our goal is to make enough money just to keep our pages online. We have real jobs and do this mostly for fun.

Is My Merry Christmas for sale?
Heavens no.

How many visitors has My Merry Christmas had?
Millions. But due to the seasonality of our content site visitors tend to peak from October through January. Christmas 2004 we had more than 8 million visitors in December alone. We're gratified that so many have stopped by to share Christmas with us.

Who visits this web site?
We have a very diverse audience, based upon statistical analysis and site surveys taken over the years. While we draw a great many children our primary audience is women, ages 24-60.

How much does it cost to advertise on My Merry Christmas?
Oh, thousands. Just kidding. We offer banner ads, text link ads and ads presented via our many newsletters. Cost vary depending upon the time of year. Due to the seasonality of our traffic the cost of advertising per thousand visitors is a bargain. We are very selective about our advertising partners.

I want to be an elf and work at My Merry Christmas. Where do I apply?
We thrive on our volunteer contributors. While we do pay for professional services and are now a paying market we accept willing volunteers to write, edit, provide graphic design and programming services. If you are seeking Internet experience, we have plenty of projects available.

How many people work at My Merry Christmas?
Over the years more than 170 people have contributed time, talent and resources to the cause. Each season more than 20 individuals contribute new content, programming and technology to our websites.

I have a professional service I want to sell to My Merry Christmas. Who do I contact?
Go to this link.

Your site is perfect to sell something I have or make. Can I sell stuff here?
Maybe. Please contact us and we will explore the possibilities with you.

Does My Merry Christmas plan to sell more Christmas products?
Yes. It is under development. My Merry Christmas is a popular website that has significant costs associated with keeping it active. Rather than charge for our original content (via a subscription) we are developing other avenues of generating revenue to keep the site operational.
