Director Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas will hit theatres again on October 20, while a new two-disc soundtrack will arrive in stores four days later.
Disney will re-release the 1993 movie, which apparently was a big favourite of a number of kids who grew up to be in bands, in a digital 3-D format. The accompanying album will feature Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Marilyn Manson, Fiona Apple and She Wants Revenge covering songs featured in the film.
Panic! and Manson both perform "This Is Halloween," Apple sings "Sally's Song," She Wants Revenge cover "Kidnap The Sandy Claws" and Fall Out Boy belt out "What's This?"
"Disney approached our management about us doing a song," Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz told MTV News. "And we're obsessed with that film and [score writer] Danny Elfman. And of course I've got my Nightmare tattoos, so we were like, 'Yes!'
"The songs in the film are pretty much the best things ever. They're Elfman at his prime. And our song 'Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner' blatantly rips off a crescendo from one of them."
The album also includes Elfman's entire score and demo versions of two songs, "Making Christmas" and "Oogie Boogie's Song," that he originally wrote for the film.
Panic! singer Brendon Urie said that everyone in his band loves Elfman's work, and they were honoured to be included on a record with him and to be connected to the film.
"So many bands that we're friends with and bands we tour with are a part of it and such huge fans of the movie. We all watched it as kids and we all watch it now, so it's really cool to be a part of it."
