Christmas Movies

Anti-Claus Movie Will Be Made

Santa and his jolly traditional image is taking a beating. First the Norse version of Santa was announced as coming to the big screen and now the “anti-Santa” is coming. Deep in the mountain villages of Austria a mythical creature by the name of Krampus terrorizes “naughty” kids and adults alike and a “Christmas” movie themed after this terrifying tradition is now in the works.

The film – which will start principal photography in September – tells the tale of ancient, devil-like creatTure Krampus, who eats naughty children at Christmas-time.

“When I was a kid, if they wanted to make a Christmas horror movie, they’d stick an axe in Santa’s hands” explains Smith. “In ANTI-CLAUS, we leave Santa alone and creep with the Krampus through twisted tales of holly-jolly murder, desire, desperation and despair. Just in time for the holiday season.”

“In America, we’re taught that nice kids gets presents from Santa and naughty kids get coal. But in countries like Germany, Austria, Bavaria, Romania and Hungary, Christmas is more metal than merry: Saint Nicholas brings a sack full of toys for good kids and the Krampus carries an empty bag for taking away the bad kids. I wanna see THAT Christmas movie. So rather than wait for it, we’ll make it instead.”

Smith is currently working on another horror entitled Tusk, and ANTI-KLAUS will utilise much of that cast, including Michael Parks, Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez, while SFX wizard Robert Kurtzman will create the creature.
