Well, I bought some Christmas cards at Walmart last night.

I stood there reading them and I noticed some are made in the USA, others made in of course China.

I'm holding two designs that I liked and thought this is not a hard decision, I put the made in China back on the shelve and I hope many of those boxes stay on the shelves. And I bought the made in the USA cards.

I know sometimes it is impossible to find made in the USA and we have no choice, but here I had a choice and buying USA made was the easy and best choice.

I also picked up some pc Christmas paper to do my Christmas letter that will be put in with some of my cards, I checked the back, "made in China", ummm well, I put it back on the shelve an thought I will just do some graphics in my print shop and design my own letter.

I know it seems small but maybe if we the public would do this, the message might get across and it just might help our economy that has gone bad since we started buying things made in China. Also, in view of the past 2 years, things made in China and sent here are not usually safe. Will we learn from this? I think the public would like to buy made in the USA compared to made in China but we are just not given the opportunity to do so.

With the way the economy is right now, I'm trying hard to do the same.

Good for you, Joyful! Thank you for the reminder to look for the "Made in the USA" label. (Apologies to everyone in other countries. It is just that we have such a huge trade deficit in the USA that it could sink us! We HAVE to encourage making things here.)

I think it´s the same in most "Western Countires"....we are flooded with stuff from China....from pencils to painting books, to toys and clothes....lots of firms leaving Germany and settling over to China cause producing is so much cheaper over there......Tho some firms came back already....because the shipping is quite high...and didn´t like how the products ended up.......I try to buy things made in Germany as well....the thing is....they are so hard to find.....I would buy a German car as well....or a US one (I love 60s US cars...and Ford...especially the Probe)....but I just can´t afford it....

The Probe??? Of all the fine automotive artwork to come out of Germany, you admire a Ford Probe?

I like to buy American, but it's more complicated than just a sticker on the bottom. Often times parts come from over seas and are just assembled here, many times the money is still going to a foreign company (though still creating jobs here), and sometimes it's just a lie. If two products were comparable in price and quality, one being foreign made and one domestic, I would buy American, but I have to take other things into consideration.

Thanks for the reminder. I try to buy American whenever I can but I admit that I don't always remember to look at the labels when I'm shopping.
