We found out earlier this year after having a miscarriage we are having a baby boy! Well. He isnt out of the womb yet and we are already worried about him. FIRST. He had a heart problem. There was a hole in his heart. We were sent to a specialist yesterday and they said the heart has fixed itself but there is another problem. Long story short, after 7 hours of waiting at the hospital to find out what is going on they told us. His left ventrical of his brain is supposed to have 1mm of fluid in it. His has 1.1mm. If it goes any higher it can cause brain damage. They are suspecting a chromisome issue but are not quite sure. More tests need to be done but IF it is a chromisome issue our child can be handycap (I couldnt care less because I have worked with children like that and they are friggen awesome people) or could die before his one. *Sigh*. We are trying to keep in good spirits. When we came home we worked on the babies room and that made us happier. I also went and picked up a tub of baby clothes from a friend and that cheered us up. Anyone else have this issue with their baby? The docs say its not uncommon to have this. Well here is some ultrasound pics of the baby. Thanks!

He is beautiful.
I have to share a couple stories with you...
First, my friend had a friend that was pregnant... they were told this baby would have a fatal disease (something to do with the chromosones, cant quite remember the name. ) They were told the same as you, the child would be very special needs and wouldnt make it far if she were to continue the pregnancy. Well she decided to continue (AMEN) and she gave birth to a 100% healthy baby boy! He is now 12 years old. So dont give in NO MATTHER what they tell you.
Also just recently, a gal that I follow her blog, was pregnant, high risk... saying this baby had serious problems... she was told she should terminate her pregancy as well at 5 months. She didnt.. they monitored her and the baby. Said up until the day she was due to deliver that the baby wouldnt make it for more then an hour outside the womb. She had thousands of people all over the world following her blog and praying for the baby...
She gave birth this last October 30th 2008, with a room FULL of specialists, all preparing to find an unhealthy baby..they rushed him to ICU only to find a miracle! NOTHING, NOT A THING was wrong with this precious baby boy. He was perfect! He went home with his family the next day! Can you imagine if she had listened to those Dr's? I know that this isnt always the case, but I want to give you hope and faith.
Hang in there and enjoy your wife and baby :D

Heartfelt prayers and good wishes for you and your family. Remember that doctors don't know everything and the baby might be just fine. With my sister's last pregnancy they were concerned about some test results...baby was perfectly healthy. My aunt had some concerning test results...and her son was born with Down's Syndrome...but he is the sweetest little guy you'd ever want to meet. They've been through a tough road because he had all the attending physical issues with a Down's diagnosis, but he's come through everything with flying colors.
Hang in there, this little guy just might surprise you. :)

I have been pregnant 7 times and have 3 wonderful children. Things do not always go like we hope they will. When pregnant with my son they told me he also had several problems, including no stomach. (Going trough his teens we know that was not true!) But he is special needs. He is the most amazing and loving person.
It is very hard when the doctors tell you there may be something wrong with your baby. It consumes you and it is all you can think about. Go on line and find out all you can about what they suspect. Talk to your public health nurse who can put you in touch with others who have gone through the same thing, you would be amazed at all the people who can support you and help you.
I will be praying for you. Keep us posted. ((Hugs))
