i wish i could just freeze this next week! i cannot believe how close we are to christmas, it has come too fast! with being so busy in the build up i feel like it has passed me by too quickly!

i am trying to fill my days with as many festivities as i can over the next week so that i enjoy every day to the full.

tonight i plan on watching my favourite christmas movie (well, my favourite movie ever) love actually.

tomorrow will be spent watching all the made for tv christmas movies on movies 24, i will also be wrapping my presents in the evening with the festive movie on full blast. thursday is my annual christmas quiz night at my local pub, me, my cousin and my 2 best friends go every year, we have such a laugh and one too many sherrys!

next week is christmas week! so i am sure i will be busy. i just hope that every day from now until christmas goes nice and slow so i can enjoy it to the full.

I def. agree with you! Me and the girl I work with have been saying we just wanted to get to November and wanted time to go by nice and slow so we could enjoy Thanksgiving and when the Christmas music starts etc...but it has just gone by way too fast! I hope this week goes nice and slow for you but I have a feeling it wont :-?

I'm with you. I took off a couple of days to kick back and enjoy Christmas movies, but wound up spending them baking, shopping, making goodies for folks back at the office, and crocheting gifts, plus some other non-Christmas obligations. Time is marching on and I don't have enough time left to enjoy all the things I haven't done yet! And because Christmas is a Thursday this year, the office holiday dates are the 25th and 26th, so I'll be working on Christmas Eve, when I'd usually be going around handing out gifts ... :-?

But on the bright side, there's more than a week left of Christmas cheer. More, if you extend it into the long Christmas weekend this year! cheesy

I'm on the fence here, one part of me says it has taken its sweet little time to get here, and the other side of me says where did the year go? But with me being at home and recovering, it's taken longer to get here.... but I love the build up to Christmas and I love the planning and watching the hustle and bustle of people shopping. I love watching the little children with Santa Claus (even the crying ones). I haven't noticed any anti-Christmas attitudes, and the music seems to make everyone happy even if it is bad economy that is holding us down. The reason for the season.......

The pub quiz night sounds fun!!

I know how you feel--it seems like the older I get, the faster it all goes by! I tried to get everything done as early as possible so I can just sit back and relax for the 5-ish days leading up to Christmas eve. :)

Every year I count down the months/days until Christmas starting in Jan.! Then about March I start to think, what am I doing? All I'm doing is wishing my life away by wishing for Christmas to get here instead of enjoying the whole rest of the year! Then that feeling goes away around May/June and it's back to the countdown! It always feels like Sept. comes and it's so long until Halloween is over and then I look forward to Thanksgiving. I start to decorate for Christmas in November so I get a head start. I look forward to Thanksgiving but, as soon as dinner is over I'm aware of how fast Christmas will be here and then I start wishing for time to slow down. It's so close now and each year I get excited for it to come and the closer it gets I get sadder because it will all be over in the blink of an eye. Then the depression starts on New Year's Eve with the beginning of a new year. I hate New Year's Eve and day. After a few weeks when the decorations are gone I start to feel normal again and so the countdown starts again. It's a vicious cycle! I still love Christmas though and that will never change but, I just don't like this dragging out all year long until it's right upon us and then it zips by. Something's not right there.

I am in agreement.... Need to freeze time or at least slow it down. I still need to finish my wrapping and my baking. With working full time and no vacation time I do not have luxury of taking time off. I am trying to get as much done as possible this week so next week we can relax, watch movies/ tv shows and go driving around looking at lights.

you are having a great time and really, be honest now, you really don't want to stop!
You will get time to stop in January for a day or two before starting the planning for 2009 Christmas. cheesy

I'm the same way! Minus the depression around New Years, I always have Jan/Feb things to look forward to. But I have my little chalkboard countdown hanging at my desk, and right after New Years, I come back to work and start it all over again! My co-workers just avert their eyes when they walk past, ;).

Ah, I think this week is going SO slow and I'm hating it, although that's because I'm still in school, doing SO much work and have absolutely loads of coursework and homework be handed in by Friday!! It's going really slow because I'm incredibly bored, but then really fast because I don't have enough time! Crazy!

When Friday is over, that's when I'll really start enjoying Christmas!

I AGREE!!!! Sounds like you have a fun week planned!! Have a sherry for me! ;-) ENJOY!!

Saturday night we are going out to our place at the lake. Most of our neighbors are coming up for the night too. The local pub (walking distance) is having their Christmas party, so we are all going up there & then spending the night at the lake. Sunday my sister is having an "open house" at her house since my niece has to work on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day & won't be able to see everybody, we are going to my sisters on Sunday to see her & the kids (oh & her hubby too...can't forget him...hee hee) Monday I think I am taking a 1/2 day off work to bake cookies with a friend & her kids & Tuesday we are having pizza & drinks at work & then my brother & sil fly in from Massachussettes for Christmas. Tuesday night we will probably have my family over to watch Fred Claus on the big screen. And then there it is....my FAVORITE day of the year: CHRISTMAS EVE!!! It's going to go too fast, I just know it!!

i have been sad all day today. i am mad at myself for not enjoying the build up more, there are things i wanted to do that i haven't done. even silly things like watching my favourite christmas film "love actually" i watched it but i didn't watch every second, i answered the phone, ironed my clothes etc.. i should have taken those two hours and enjoyed every second of it.

i am going to cheer up now, there are still a few days left, i am going to get up really early and enjoy every second of them, i will make them as festive as possible and then will concentrate on making next year even more festive!

That´s what You should do Johnor.....I think all of us have the same problem....We love Christmas so much....that we look forward to it all year long.....and then when it approaches full speed....we spend more thinking about it being over in a minute and thinking about the things we have not done....Instead of Doing the things we would love to do.....So let´s take in every second of the Christmas Time and enjoy ourselves and our loved ones....I went ice-skating on WEdnesday....unexpected...and we will watch "Little Lord Fauntleroy" in the evening....which is a tradition for me since 5-6 years....I love it more than anything...On Sunday we will lite the latest candle of the Advents wreath and go to listen to trumpet and posaune players play Christmas songs on the towers of two churches in my city...from there we either go to the Weihanchtsmarkt....or home and have some Glühwein.

So Johnor and all the others...enjoy the remaining days of the season...and be sad after it a bit.....:)

I enjoy New Year's Eve, but I feel a bit upset on Boxing Day as the Christmas gifts have been opened and the feast eaten and there will soon be a long cold January ahead.
