I like the one in your album for the car... what marketing genius decided "Hey! Let's take this generic car ad... throw in some twinkly stars and VOILA! a Christmas ad!"..?
They probably got paid extra for that. cheesy

Very cool Rod. Except for the transistor radio, those prices are almost unbelievable. I guess we're talking almost 50 yrs ago though... Hard to believe the '60s were that long ago.

That is so neat! Of course that was before I was born... cheesy but I still cant imagine how cheap some of those prices were as compared to today!

very cool, but the scary part is that it looks familiar! I was 10 when this stuff came out.

My dad had that Polaroid camera in the lower right of the Ardan ad. Thanks to it, we have albums of childhood photos. And we had that "Jack and Jill TV radio" in the Shoppers' World ad — it was basically a wind-up music box with a rotating series of pictures telling the J&J story.

We had the camera too, and I still have it!! My Dad gave the camera and his Bible to me....I cherish them.

As long as we're on the topic of old ads and/or catalogs, check out this thread entry I just posted in Online Christmas Media:

If you follow the link there, you'll be able to read a complete Christmas promotional giveaway comic (put out by the W.T. Grant 5 & 10 chain) from 1952... it features Jo-Joy, a little boy Jack-In-The-Box.
Enjoy.

Oh my God!!! I had that Jack and Jill TV Radio too, I forgot about it until I read your description of it. Wow that's wild, I totally forgot about that until just this moment!!!
Those are some pretty cool ads, do bring back some childhood memories.
