but I have just received an invitation to the Queen's (yes, as in Queen Elizabeth II) Garden Party in Edinburgh on Tuesday June 30th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am, to say the very least, stunned and that emotion is rapidly followed by - yes, you guessed it - what am I going to wear; will I have to buy more shoes (life is a hardship!); must I wear a hat?? (If I have my druthers, I'd ruther not; I look like a muppet in a hat - would a Santa hat or a fascinator in the shape of antlers be acceptable?!)
Wow!

That is so exciting, congratulations!
I have heard of folks here in Canada being invited to meet with the Queen when their birthdays matched hers.
May she heard about how much you love Christmas and just had to meet you! cheesy
Make sure to take lots of pictures.

Well, Christmas AND I'm Canadian - even though my birthday is in October!
One of the many rules, however stipulates that cameras are forbidden :-( Wonder what my sketching is like.......!!!!

So, I checked your profile and you live in Scotland right? So is she sending her private limo to pick you up?

I'd expect nothing less!!! That said, in case it gets lost in the Highlands, they've sent me a parking sticker for my windshield!!!!!!!

just remember:
DON'T HUG HER!
First lady Michelle Obama hugged Queen Elizabeth yesterday at Buckingham Palace in London. While that may sound like it's no big deal, actually is a breach of royal protocol. No one is supposed to touch the queen. The queen reportedly didn't mind, however.

I vote for the antlers. I've always wanted to see the queen. I used to read about her when she was a princess!
You are indeed lucky!

I totally agree that connections to the North Pole definitely played a part. Plus, I've heard the queen is partial to plaid.

Well, it's a few days after the event but just thought I'd let you know how it went at the Garden Party
We had the most glorious sunny day and I got a bit of sunburn - totally not expected!!! Iced coffee and finger sandwiches and people 4 deep to try and see the Queen. She was very small and was in a pink hat, pink dress and white coat. We learned very quickly that if people were looking at her, they wouldn't be in the food tents!!!! It worked very well!!!!
It was THE place to people watch. One unfortunate lady was sporting a complete moustache which curled at the edges. Another had what could only be described as a dead rooster on her head.
Me, I felt I should be opening on the main stage at the Golden Nugget or at least in a saloon going by the name of Kitty - I think it had something to do with the feathers in my hair. I've posted a picture of Bruce and I, so it should show up randomly!!!
All in all, it was an experience and I'm sure the Queen was thrilled we were there!!

sounds like you had a great time! I too love to people watch, it is more entertaining than TV.
I saw the Queen once, she came to Prince George BC to open up the new University of Northren BC. (we lived there at the time) I was surprised at how small she was. When all you see of her is on TV you never think about her hight.
