Welcome!

I used to live in Manchester, I still can't get over the fact that the giant santa could be seen from space! The best decorations I've ever seen, better than Nottinghams half arsed attempts lol

When you ventured into Manchester city centre to see the christmas lights and of course to see our famous Santa, did you by any chance see a silly looking woman complete with a santa hat, false white beard, thick silvery tinsle wrapped around every part of her body, screaming "We want Father Christmas!!!!" at amazing decibels and bouncing around like a complete idiot but not giving a damm anyway?,hey that was me!!!
Oh I just live for christmas Tom,its such an amazing and special time of the year, when I sit and think about my most precious memories during my life, christmas is involved in all of them.
My favourite memory of being there when they switched on the lights was 2 years ago,it was one I will never forget, not only did we have the most spectacular fireworks display ever but right at the end they exploded into the air millions and millions of tiny little peices of white paper,SNOW HAD ARRIVED IN MANCHESTER!!It was a breathtaking moment and one that I will never forget,it was magical. It was at that moment father Christmas finnally arrived on stage, the children went crazy and I went even crazier!!!
That one little outing to see Manchesters lights switched on was one I will never forget.

Oh we certainly have fun over here in Manchester when christmas arrives loksi, the atmosphere in the city centre is amazing,in fact the whole of Great Britain go into overdrive, its brilliant!!!

I was chatting with my friend the other night,we was talking about the time I went on my holidays to Furtuentura about 2 years ago,the weather was unbelievable but stupid me ignored the warning of sun cream and only put on a small amount, needless to say I was burnt to a crisp and was unable to move out of the apartment. Now my friends had no sympathy at all for me and polietly left me home alone while they partied the night away.
I felt so miserable and felt so sorry for myself so I decided to look through the dvd,s that was left by the apartments owner and low and behold I found "Scrooge",I was in heaven!!That night I sat alone without a stitch on(my sunburn wouldnt allow any clothes near me)burning from head to toe yet unbelievably happy and contented that I was watching one of my all time favourites, that film that night took me back to all my childhood christmas memories and although I was suffering like Ive never suffered before I was still so very happy indeed.
Thank the Lord the film finished before my friends came back!!
Right Im off now to look through EBay to grab myself some christmas bargains!!
Night night everyone:snowball:

I'd argue that point, actually. It's getting there slowly but on the whole, having lived in both Canada and Britain, Britain still has a lot of catching up to do. It's still pretty uptight. Manchester is obviously coming on leaps and bounds but the UK as a whole really needs to crank it up a gear

Hiya Maureen,
Ive heard how the Canadians celebrate christmas and America too and yes without a doubt compared to these two countries Ive mentioned then we do indeed need to crank it up.
Manchester is comming on leaps and bounds but compared to years ago its getting bigger and better.
Just wish we could have the same ammount of snow that the Canadians have, now that would be absolutly wonderfull!!:sparkle:
