We talked about where the stockings get hung, but what do you put in them?
We put a variety of things, something different every year. Candy, lip balm, nail files, gum, small cars, lego etc.

Usually some mindless array of penny candy... I often put Christmas mix CD's and my Christmas comics in my brothers' and sisters' stockings, as well...

When my kids were small I found it so much easier to fill the stockings for the girls, I had to be a bit more creative to fill my sons stocking. Then one year my Mother had a lady make them stockins, they were huge so I had to find more stuff to put in them.

Girls according to their ages consisted of: hair accessories; unique pens/pencils; small notebooks; make-up; maybe a cassette (remember them); jewerlry; perfume; lotions and etc.

My son according to age: cars, trucks; pencils/pens of course something that had the camo design on it (one year that's all he wanted camo stuff).

I always put in some candy, sometimes the big candy canes; or the small candy canes and of course something of chocolate.

Well last year in my boyfriends stocking I put some cards, candy, gift certificates, dvd, some little homemade coupons for things and I think that was it.

Depends on what I think would be fun, or whimsical... always chocolate coins, candy cane(s) or some silly thing.. One year I put a pocket watch in my hubby's stocking.

We have two stockings. One with gifts in it from each other and one with gifts from santa. The ones from each other are gifts that cost five dollars or under. So it just depends on what everyone finds that they think the other person will like. The ones from santa are usually full of candy and lottery scratch off tickets.

DH usually give me a DVD. I get him a gift card to the movies & Skittles. Last year he gave me Horton Hears a Who on Blu-Ray and I gave him a Star Trek PEZ dispenser collection and Skittles.

For DD: small things that she is interested in. I honestly can't remember what was in there last year besides a Tinkerbell toothbrush. She likes to dress up and do lip gloss and nails now, so maybe something along that line this year.

I was getting carried away with the stocking gifts. I have to get back to the basics again. Afterall we have 9 stockings but only 3 of them are for people under 18. Hmm, I'll have to review this site again for ideas.:snowball:

Christmas Chick: On my side of the family there are 11 of us now. We decided to draw names for stockings so mom & dad don't have to fill 9 stockings and not have a stocking themselves.

I just thought of something.....I bet the stocking my dad has now is the only stocking he's ever had. I'd say they didn't "do stockings" growing up. Four kids, no money.

Thanks, that's a good idea!
