My mom and I were talking about the upcoming holiday season earlier over breakfast. We usually start throwing ideas for decorations and recipes around to each other this time of year. So we have Thanksgiving dinner under control. But Christmas dinner I wanted to try something new. I want to try Duck this year we've never done this so do any of you guys have good recipes for duck? I haven't told my mom yet about this idea because I want to come to her with something solid so she'll know I'm serious and I've been doing my homework on this. Any kind of help or advice will be greatly apperciated. Thanks in advance you guys!

If you have never had duck before I suggest you get one and try it first as it can be quiet different from chicken and turkey. I have only had it a couple of times and really did not care for it. Once in a restaurant and once at a friends home.
My sister suggested trying a turducken, which is a stuffed duck inside a chicken inside a turkey (all deboned first) That sounds like a lot of work, but intriguing. She had this when living in Australia and really liked it.

I agree with Christmasstar....you really need to try one first. It's a very different taste and it's not one of my favorites. Doesn't mean you won't like it, but I'd try it first! Let me know how it goes, I might need to use a new recipe!

I also say try it first if you have never had it. I don't care for it but my mom likes it. She has been eating it since she was really young though because my grandpa use to hunt them.

thanks for your responses everybody. A quck update I ran the idea past my mom shes not a fan. She said she dosen't like duck so I guess im going to have to try it somewhere else. But I ran the Turducken idea past my dad and he said he's interested and would like to try it so my mom and I have to learn how to make one and we are clueless! So once again any ideas for recipes?
Thanks in advance,

Turduckens are fun, mystery meat... you never know if you're going to get turkey, duck or chicken in any given bite... in fact, make a game of it... blindfold someone and see if they can tell the difference just by taste... the best taster wins a prize package of a bottle of Wild Turkey, a six pack of Chicken of the Sea tuna and a can of Donald Duck orange juice..! cheesy

I know what you mean I love it when they have the cake challanges or bake-offs. I would love to be a judge on any of their shows one day.
