I was curious as to what you do after Thanksgiving. Do you rush out the following day or even the same day for all those Christmas sales? I have worked retail before and have seen some crazy stuff on Black Friday.
I usually had to work that day, but this year, I'll be at home I'm sure. It is kinda exciting to watch people rush around to shop, but kinda crazy too. lol!

We watch the lighting of the Macy's Christmas tree on tv that night(in Atlanta at Lenox Mall), it's got singing and stuff, it's cute! And we eat sweet potato pie. Then the next day (black Friday) it changes year after year...sometimes we get up early and do the shopping, and other times we sleep in and recover from the Thanksgiving rush.

Usually I'm putting up my tree and watching Christmas movies. This year I will be flying up to MD. Probably Christmas shopping this year. Or just hanging out with friends and family.

I've never been one to stand in lines to get the best prices, but there are some really really good prices on Black Friday. I consider the atmosphere a big part of the experience and an atmosphere of near violence is not my cup of tea. I'd rather shop during a more sane timeframe and pay a bit more.

I know what you mean. Normally I would stay home but I decided to fly up north for Thanksgiving so it's going to change my normal holiday traditions. I haven't seen my mom or my sister over the holidays since I moved here. Since they won't come down, I opted to go up. I'm not looking forward to the flight.

I stay home and take advantage of the Black Friday prices that are offered online. I don't get the "door buster" special, but then, I never snagged those even when I tried!
Usually the day is spent fetching and setting up the Christmas tree and setting out the last of the Christmas decorations....the things I don't want Thanksgiving guests to see...like Christmas shower curtains, etc.

I decorate my tree & we have "wine day" at our house!! My hubby gets the heck out of dodge, & 2 or 3 of my girlfriends come over to put up my Christmas decorations, talk, & drink wine....Ok, ok...I put up my decorations & drink wine...they drink wine & watch!!   We started this tradition about 10 years ago. Of course we always have cheese to go with our wine! :-D It's a fun day!!

I'm thinking that if we have this house we're looking at, I'll spend the day getting out our Christmas decorations and working on Christmas cards, so they get sent out in enough time.

I learnt my lesson years ago when I got up at 5am to wait in line at Wal Mart to get a friggin Furby. NEVER again! Now I sleep in....have a nice breakfast, then head out later in the day to do some shopping. 8)

I don't think I've gotten up early for anything. I think I did wait in line one time for Bruce Springsteen tickets during the Glory Days tour.

The wine day does sound like fun! What a neat tradition.....
We always put up our christmas tree and decorate the house. And listen to christmas music all day! Then at night (if i don't have to work) Ill turn off all the lights except the christmas lights and sit down to a good christmas movie with a cup of hot cocoa! :???:

I'm hoping so much that we get this house. Holiday, it is exciting, I just hope I'm not setting myself up for a major disappointment.
I'm calling them tomorrow to see if they had a chance to look at our application. I guess, we'll go from there.

The day after Thanksgiving is a fun day at my house. Being in retail, I have to work. BUT, it's just not our day. Since so many of my people have to work -- many malls require even those of us not having sales to be open at the crack of insanity -- I usually offer one of my working folks the opportunity to send me somewhere to get the door buster they are missing.
I usually fail. But not always. It is a tremendous day to people watch and I can usually tell from the fervor of the frenzy what kind of season we're going to have. Occasionally in my travels I find something of value for my family too. Last year I bought new coats for six of the kids for under $70. What a miracle that was.
I usually only briefly stop in at two or three shops...mostly just to chat because we're not busy. Then I'll head on home where the house still has that feel of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving Eve and Day are filled with decorating and game playing. Lots of good smells. And that party continues on Friday.
That's also the day of the first Update from the North Pole. My oldest daughter, who has been doing this since she was five, now loves to get the little ones excited by showing her scrapbook of all the years of the Santa Updates. She has kept every one and usually on Friday night there is a long discussion of Christmas past as she thumbs through the Santa Updates.
It's a glorious weekend. Yeah, shopping has a part in it. But not much, really. And if I didn't have to work, I wouldn't be out in it either.

The day after Thanksgiving, DH and I start decorating our house inside and outside. I decorate the inside and he decorates the outside. Once we are done decorating, we usually do a little shopping at the mall and head to the movies.

Unless I find another person for my department before then, I will be working. My scrooge boss doesn't close down on Friday even though downtown looks like a ghost town. I will probably come in around 7 and then leave around noon. I can probably get everything done by then since most of our clients aren't open either. After that I will probably go home and start pulling all the Christmas decorations out. I hope its cold so I can sip hot tea and possibly find a Christmas movie to watch. Or the Razorback game if it's on tv!

Average high for the day after Thanksgiving in Redfield AR is 57º. Last year it only got to 48º, so I think hot tea will be in order!

Really? You would think I would remember that! I do remember going to get the tree and it being very windy and the lot having hot chocolate. Guess it has been so hot here the past few days cold weather just seems like a dream.
Well with that bit of good news I say bring on Turkey Day!!

My wife is a dialysis nurse, so she always has a busy day at work on Black Friday. Even still, we're both adverse to fighting the crowds.
Mostly I work on finishing the Christmas decorations that we started on Thanksgiving Day. Well, I try to work, depending on how much turkey, pie, and Apple Cinnamon rolls I consumed the day before.

Yes, but I can only report it. Getting it changed for special events costs extra and I'll need credit card info. Mother Nature is very unforgiving sometimes.
