Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. :) hmmm celebrating Christmas in France. Well for one, they are not as commercialized as in the states. But that is changing. Even for Halloween, trick or treating is very new here. Back to Christmas, when I was living in the states, I remember the Christmas stuff starting to show up even before halloween in some places and whole areas devoted to Christmas decorations in stores. Well :-( that's not the case here. There is maybe one aisle in our big supermarket that is sort of like a big walmart only the prices are not as good. All those light up lawn decorations are very rare to find. In fact I haven't seen any. Aldi last year had a santa Claus figure that you hang outside your window and he looks like he is climbing a ladder. You know how many houses I saw with that? 100's. I knew they got it on the weekly special at aldi. So people are wanting more but the supply is just not there yet.
One of the things that each town does, is make some sort of display. They always hang wrapped gift boxes in trees, it looks nice. I will try to take photos this year of a nearby village where I love the disply they do. Alot of homemade type decorating but real cute.

Looking forward to your pics, Lori. I lived in Scotland for several years and I remember that they were not as commercialized as America but that may have been due to the generally low income. Folks just couldn't buy a bunch of stuff, so why display it? I used to like standing on the shore of Holy Loch (any loch would do!) on Christmas morning. Very peaceful.
