My dream is to spend Christmas in a farmhouse in Highland County, VA, with lots of snow, playful dogs and friendly neighbors.

well first thought was a high mountain retreat with a dozen Hooter's girls....but back to reality.... a cabin in the woods overlooking Lake Superior with plenty of firewood, food and drink, good friends. A warm crackling fire, Bing on the turntable. Windows frosted over but just enuff of a clear view to see the chilling winds blowing crisp snow across the lake. A goose in the oven, fresh cookies cool on the counter...mmm I'll be back, gotta run to the vending machine.

They disguise it with clever statements like, "Check out those wings!"

I spend a lot of time in the season meeting and spending time complete strangers – right up to Christmas Eve. I truly enjoy that part of the Christmas season as much as I enjoy spending time with my family and friends on Christmas Day and Christmas Night.

Christmas Eve, I like to be with my family at my aunts or dads house. On Christmas day I like to be at my moms house with my family.

I have spent too many Christmas Eves/Days away from my birth family (as opposed to my marriage family). The Navy kept me away for years. My job occasionally keeps me away as I compete with others for vacation time. This year, Lord willing, we will head north for a white Christmas with Mom and Dad and whoever else shows up. I am looking forward to it big time!

I wish I could go back 10 years and have those Christmas again. My nephews were still little and really enjoyed Christmas (like someone said in another post, it's more like Christmas when there are little ones around) and didn't just see it as another day to make some fast cash. My sister still lived here so we were able to all be together and my dads health was better. Plus my folks were still in my childhood home so it had all the warm and fuzzies with it.

This year will be quiet, my sister and family won't be making it home. We will get up and go to Tom's moms for a bit...quiet there too since they do a huge Thanksgiving but not much Christmas. Then to my folks for more food and maybe a Christmas movie or two.

But if I REALLY could dream big then I would be somewhere in a cabin in the middle of the Rocky Mountains with a ton of snow and 2 tons of firewood. Have the cabin all decorated and lots of good comforting foods to eat.

I love spending christmas with my spouse. No house or location can make it special but spending it with my spouse is very special and makes me happy.

Okay, sounds strange, but one place I'd love to spend Christmas would be Williamsburg, Virginia. (Hey, ya gotta do something with a degree in History, right?).

Or maybe somewhere in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. My wife and I both grew up in New Jersey (the southern end), and spent a lot of time in Lancaster and the surrounding area.

I hate sand in my Christmas jammies. I like this place right here:

my idea of the ideal place to spend the holidays is anywhere that is cold on the outside, cozy on the inside and where my mom is.

I always wanted to spend Christmas at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. I've seen a lot of pictures of how it is decorated for Christmas and it always looked so beautiful to me.

Now that I'm married and living in a house, I am looking forward to decorating for Christmas. I am also looking forward to midnight mass with my hubby, dvdguy. I would love to have a Christmas open house and invite all my friends and family in to have cookies and treats and sing Christmas carols.
