I know some of you were talking about eggnog earlier (last month). But I am not a lover of eggnog, but the husband is, so I bought him his first half gallon of eggnog last night. It finally hit our local Wal-Mart. Pumpkin pie and eggnog, is he spoiled or what?

I am more into the alcholic egg nog. I don't drink much alcohol otherwise, just like the taste of that kind of egg nog better.

Ive never had/tasted Eggnog-always wanted to mind. Dont think its that big over here in UK than is over the water.
Does home made taste as good as the shop stuff?? How do you make it (both alcohol and no alcohol version) and where in UK can you get it??
Cheers

Yeah, I've never had it either. I always wondered how it tasted. It never sounds too appetizing. One of these days I'll try it. Maybe this year...

I didn't see it the other day when I was at my wal mart but then again I wasn't looking for it. I may have to go see if they have it.

Yeah, I've never had it either. I always wondered how it tasted.Eggnog tastes like french vanilla ice cream or baked custard. You can make it with or without rum, brandy, or bourbon added.
If you can't find it in the grocery story, here are some recipes:
• Martha Stewart: Eggnog (http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/favorite-eggnog?)
• Martha Stewart: Martha's Classic Eggnog (http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/marthas-classic-eggnog?)
• Epicurious: Baltimore Eggnog (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Baltimore-Eggnog-102325)
• Betty Crocker: Creamy Eggnog (http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes.aspx/creamy-eggnog)

I'm super excited about egg nog! I was pregnant last holiday season and since egg nog is made from raw eggs, I couldn't have any! Totally gonna indulge as soon as it hits shelves here!!

The commercially-made eggnogs use pasteurized eggs. More here (http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-safe-to-drink-eggnog-during-pregnancy_10322.bc).

I've never tried it and I'm not sure you can buy it in the UK. And I don't think if I made it I'd be able to drink it, always been a bit squeamish about raw eggs LOL

I have no idea where to buy it in the UK but would love to know!! Tried the usual ASDA (Walmart), Tesco, Morissons e.t.c last year but not a thing! Are there any on-line stores or does it have a short use by / sell by date?
Thanks in advance

I'm totally making egg nog popsicles too. And egg nog muffins. And, maybe, egg nog tacos.
On second thought...forget the egg nog muffins...gross...
