you could always just put unbreakable plastic bulbs on the lower branches where she can reach... OR get her a small plush tree of her very own...

That is so cute! My oldest daughter was only 4 months old on her first Christmas, but her second one was lots of fun. I did the constant don't touch thing too. So instead she would stand beside the tree with her hands behind her back and try to get the ornaments with her mouth. Well, she was not touching was she!! She has been a smart one ever since!

that is such a great picture! I remember when my oldest son was around that age, he ran up, grabbed a glass ball ornament and crushed it in his little hand, and got little cuts on his palms. When he did it once, I thought that would teach him not to do it again, but , nope, it didn't phase him, he never cried, and with me right there with him, he suddenly ran around and did it AGAIN! I couldn't believe it. So, I put all the ornaments up high, where he couldn't reach, and bought some that looked like glass, but were unbreakable. I'll never forget that; he got such a kick out of crushing the ornaments, but it didn't phase him at all that it cut his little hands. He has long since been on his own. I had to downsize a lot this year because we moved into a very small apartment and I just threw out those cheap plastic balls, lol. And my son just turned 30 last month. Thank goodness, he has long since given up crushing ornaments.

We have used a super play yard and placed the TREE inside of it to keep the kids away from the tree and the ornaments.

Great photo! When I first saw it I thought of the Sears Wish Book!
When my kids where little I just made sure there was nothing breakable on the tree. They all pulled it over once (or twice for my youngest) - but did not like the idea of the tree falling. Natural consequence. lol
:tree:edit to add: also we did not have lights, or anything they could not 'eat'.

I don't think there is anything better at christmas than having a child at christmas. Seeing their face when they see that tree for the first time and all the lights. My children are grown now but I remember watching them their first several years of christmas. Their eyes and the excitement!!

LOL - my son is almost 21 months so I understand! He started walking right before the season started last year so we had a smaller tree that we put up on a table, out of reach!
