Whoops, forgot to introduce myself. :D

I'm Marek, a 23 year old female living in Amsterdam, Holland. Born and raised in Canada though, with a maple leaf tattoo on my ankle so there's never any doubt where I came from. ;)

I have always loved Christmas, and this will be the first year I won't be with my family on the holiday, so I'm really glad I found this board of people whom love it just as much as I do. I'll probably be spending lots of time in the crafts/decorating section.

Other than that, not much, just waiting for the season to start, and for NaNoWriMo to kick my butt again this year...

Welcome Marek!

I saw a police officer wreck his car in Amsterdam once. He was paying too much attention to the American tourists on the sidewalk as he attempted to pull out into traffic!

One day I hope to get to your home country!

Believe it or not, there's an average of one car a week that ends up in the canals, not even the police are safe. ;)

As for how I celecrate Christmas - lots of homemade goodies, songs, movies, family, and very personal gifts.

It's those crazy speed limits and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Well, you may not get to see ALL that makes the windows so distracting...so that should give you a hint as to what is in the windows. They're not exactly family friendly.

:P We drive on the same side of the road as the US.

Most, if not all (I haven't done a study), of the red light district windows are now down smaller alley streets, and not on the main canal streets at all.

And no, there's not much to keep cars from going in. Some roads just have a small metal post-fence up, which you have to feel with the wheel, because it's way too short to be visible when you're driving. I wouldn't want to drive in A'dam anyway, bikes and the tram are much easier.

In Christmas related news though, the stuff has started hitting the stores. :D We don't really do Hallowe'en, so out comes the festive things. This year's popular theme seems to be decorating with cute little felt cut outs in natural/classic colours. This is going to be a problem with my budget.
