First I thought to post this in the food section, but its more to do with what types of food & goods we buy mainly at Christmas time compared to the rest of year.

Here is my usual list that I can only ever recall buying for Christmas

Beetroot (Pickled variety)
Red Cabbage
Pickled Onions
Picalily
Speciality Cheeses (I usually buy Blue Shropshire a type of Stilton)
Pate
Tins of Roses & Quality Street (UK readers will know these they are a type of candy that come in different flavours centres and are usually purchased in 5lb tins)
Peanuts Ok Ill buy these now and again through out the year as a one of snack but I usually purchase around 4-5 varities such as Cashew, Dry Roasted, Salted, Pistachio
Pretzels (not the North American type) these are usually quite small and come in packs with other types of similar snacks
Twiglets ( a type of snack similar to a UK Pretzel but flavoured with Marmite)

I love red cabbage cooked with a few slices of apple!

I like cream cheese smothered in red pepper jelly. You dip into it with crackers. Good stuff!

Another one to get Quality Street, they're my dad's favourite chocolates so we always had them at christmas time.

Other foods I get are during christmas are:
Eggnog/eggnog flavoured tea
Mulled wine
Port Salut and smoked cheeses
Ciabatta
Assorted nuts
Smoked salmon and cream cheese parcels
Dominoes (chocolates with marzipan, fruit jelly and gingerbread)
Ginger thins
Cadbury chocolate biscuits
Sausages

I'm sure there are others but can't think of them at the moment... ok I've made myself hungry now!

Specialty cheese, Gouda cheese has always been a Christmas staple in my family.
Bread Pudding (another Christmas treat that was served at Christmas when I was growing up)
Coca-Cola (I like Pepsi better the rest of the year, but at Christmas I crave Coca-Cola probably due to growing up seeing all the Coke Christmas Commercials) cheesy

This one might be weird...

Clemintines

I've only ever eaten them during the holidays. I don't know why, but my mom never bought them at any other time, and now I don't either. I just bought my first box about a week ago. I peeled and ate one and said, "mmm! Tastes like Christmas!"

Beef Suet
Currents
Mixed fruit and peel

All these are ingredients for homemade plum pudding and mincemeat. I've got some that I made back in 1998, but it's almost gone. Last year I made new plum puddings that should last about 5 years and this year I need to make mincemeat that should last about 8 years.

I plan on buying a package of mixed nuts this year. My mom always had them around the holiday. And, since I'm diabetic, I'll have to work for what I want to eat. I recall doing that. I prefer chocolate but I'm going to add the nuts this year. I guess I'll have to buy a nutcracker...the metal kind, not the decorative kind. I have several of those.

My mom only makes sausage balls on Christmas morning, and we very very rarely make cookies except for Christmas Eve.

Chocolate covered cherries and those chocolate gum drop things. I forgot what they're called but we only can find them/get them starting in November and they dissappear after Christmas.
