I just wanted to share with you all how overjoyed and excited I am because we get to get a real tree this year and it was totally unexpected. We can't go get it til later in the week and I can hardly wait. Don't get me wrong, our artificial tree is very beautiful, but it was already kinda old when I got it at a garage sale and we've used it for 5 Christmases already. And there is nothing like a real tree. When I found out last night that we'd be able to get a real one, I was like a little kid and every few minutes was whooping it up and laughing.:yahoo:

Exciting! I usually put up my artificial tree...although, last year we had a real one. I loved how they smell...it really lifts your spirits. I didn't miss the needles all over thou. But it was still worth it. This year we are using our artificial again. But it was fun last year to go out as a family and find the perfect tree together. Enjoy!

Sounds exciting! The last time I had a real tree is when I was a little girl.

Sounds wonderful! We cannot have a real tree in our house because of allergies. :-?
We did however go and buy a really great, just like the real thing, tree a few years back that still looks fabulous!

oooh, I love white pine!! I'm from Michigan, where they are the state tree. My brother has a lot of them on his property in Michigan. He's had at least a few white pines for his Christmas trees and they are unbelievably beautiful. Sadly, they won't have them in places as Lowe's, etc.. here in FL and also I don't think the branches would be strong enough for some of my ornaments.

I really love White Pines!
They are awesome. The needles aren't sharp at all and ours holds up through Christmas EVERY year.
I just put the ornaments inside the branches a little bit. The one we got this year was really tall and full as it could be. My husband had a great eye this time! I'll have to get a picture to show you.

And I have just bought my very first ARTIFICIAL TREE !! I always have a real one but my living room is on the first floor and I have to carry it up a narrow stair case and it just makes such a mess. And then there is all the needles falling off and so I now decided to go for an artifical one. I chose a white one though. There wasn't a single green one that could match the real thing so I decided on white. It will make my ornaments look good ! I haven't put it up yet. Will do that on Saturday.
I will still get a real one for my window display downstairs so I will have both.

I'm happy for you. When our children were small we had to get a real tree because our artificial tree had seen better days and we didn't want to spend the money for a new one.
My kids hated having the real tree (so did I). That was the last one and the only one in my married life of 39 yrs.
I must say having a real tree when I was growing up, made very interesting Christmases.
Tree wasn't put up untill Christmas Eve (back then fires were a big concern). Trunks usually did not work in the old tree stands, so it was a bucket of rocks to secure the tree. Also if need be string was tied to the tree at the top and then anchored to the wall by pounding a nail into the wall, I kid you not. Constantly watering the tree was a pain especially with my brother's Lionel train set up underneath.
Then the tree came down New Year's Day after only enjoying it for 7 days.

Congrats! I'd love a real tree but between allergies and my inability to keep any living plant alive.. we're probably better off with the artificial tree. cheesy
