I missed it all tonight. We had a haunted forest at the youth minister's house. Pretty fun. On the way home we came upon a huge wreck. Two fatalities, one a baby. The child seat was blown straight out the back window, it seemed. The wife did some on site crisis counseling. Pretty horrible end to a fun evening.

Why do people feel the need to beat the red lights? What is it going to save them? If they had just stopped at the light, everyone would be fine. How sad.

I've never used a child car seat but don't they strap in with the seat belts? maybe they aren't as safe as they should be. They are required to be used here.

Horrible news. That poor family. :(

I am amazed to see families still not securing their kids. I see them up on the dashboard and hanging over the front seat or even in the driver's lap. Plenty of agencies will give you a car seat if you need one, so there's no real good excuse. Some will put their kid in the seat but not secure the seat, so it just helps them locate the child if the have a wreck.

I think some have the attitude that they are just driving across town so there is no need to secure the kids. Don't take much of an impact to sent a 9lb baby flying
