Our little suburb of Nashville (which actually isn't too far from downtown Nashville) has a Christmas parade every year the first weekend in December. My mom and I took the boys Sunday evening and we really enjoyed it. Last year, they had it in the daytime, but this year they moved it to early evening when it just started getting dark. The lights on all the floats were just gorgeous. The boys were literally bursting with excitement...I wish I could bottle that enthusiasm! It's so wonderful to be able to go to a parade and not have to hassle with going downtown...which is really a nightmare! I'm sure you can imagine! cheesy

Sounds like you all had a great time! We live in a smaller community too and I love the fact that there is not a lot a traffic to deal with! cheesy

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. I can understand not wanting to do the "city Parade"...traffic, rude people etc. Why not keep it simple right? Our little towns parade is also this friday. I plan to go (well pending on the temps. here). cheesy

How wonderful. You children will have the wonderful memories of going to the Christmas parade.
My hometown always had a Christmas parade and the local theater would show a free movie and had out treats in the lobby. I cherish those memories and feel bad that some of these special events no longer exist.

And now I'm hating again that we're missing our little parade this Saturday! We're celebrating our parent's 60th birthdays instead!

That is fabulous! A parade really gets you in a festive mood, doesn't it? It is so nice to attend a small town parade vs. a "big city" one. Did you take pictures??
My town did the same thing a few years back. They used to have the parade during the day (and I remember it fondly growing up--always at noon on the first Saturday of December) and now it's a "Festival of Lights" parade, held at 5:30 on the first Saturday of December. It ends with Santa and everyone follows him to City Hall for the tree lighting ceremony. :D I have pictures that I am going to post this week (it was this past Saturday).
