I had a dear friend send this to me this morning. Thought I would share.
=)
I know it's early but I want to be the 1st....to make you think "CHRISTMAS" and the reason for the season...
With just about 3 weeks before Christmas REMEMBER:
Jesus is Better than Santa
Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.
You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
JESUS has a heart full of love.
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.
Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.
It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.
May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and your loved ones this Christmas 2009

You know what? I appreciate this and I get the point, I really do.
But I don't appreciate knocking Santa.
Santa -- the REAL Santa -- was a fervert Christian (and to my knowledge, he still is). He:
- Defended Christ to the point of slapping a priest for questioning Jesus' divinity
- Went to prison for testifying of Christ
- Lived a life of selfless service, some say working miracles to care for the desitute and to feed the hungry
- Gave up his own worldly wealth to pursue a life of Christian fellowship
I suggest those Christian-minded individual who would curse Santa -- even the modern Santa who admittedly has been distorted from his true being -- spend a little time educating themselves about the TRUE STORY OF SANTA CLAUS (http://mymerrychristmas.com/2005/santa.shtml)
I don't care for how the world, especially Hollywood, depicts and secularizes Santa. He is a sacred figure. A man, yes, but a Holy man nonetheless -- not a prophet, but a true believer, a benevolent example of HOW to be a Christian.
For a truer look at the modern Santa, I do suggest you read the years of interviews (http://mymerrychristmas.com/2006/santaspeaks.php) we have record of.
Here at MMC we revere Santa as we celebrate Christ. It does not behoove us to advance the cause of Christ while tearing down the honor, dignity and respect a man like Santa clearly deserves.
Santa doesn't replace Christ. He is a model for those who follow Him.

I love it a lot....I love Santa and the Christkind as well...but I love Rodmonster´s post.
@Jeff....I think Rod is a huuuuuuuge Santa lover...I think he once wrote that in his house...the one who doesn´t believe there is Santa...won´t get presents....:D
the thing is...so many people forget why we celebrate Christmas....so a short reminder is cool to me...;)

To be fair, 'Christmas' was being celebrated long before Christ was ever conceived; as a celebration of the Winter Solstice. Yule trees were decorated, a celebration was held that lasted for days and it was a time of celebration and rebirth.
Over the ages, things changed and different adaptations made their way down into today's culture. But I say, celebrate however you want.
You want to celebrate the birth of Christ? Have at it!
You want to celebrate with Jolly Old Saint Nick giving everyone presents? Power to you!
And if you just like the holiday because of all the pretty lights and music without a thought to anything else, well, that's fine by me too!
All I care about is that everyone get along for one day of the year. I've always had a strained relationship with my father, ever since I was a kid. But during Christmas, none of that EVER mattered. For that short time, we got along famously and it was the best part of the season.
In another thousand years, who know what we'll believe? All I can be sure of is that this time of year will be a time of celebration and rebirth.
Soooo, on the off chance that this website will be around still, Merry Yule, Christmas, XMas, DeltaQuad Martian Lifestyle Day of 3009! Wish I could be there to celebrate with you all! :)

Thanks for sharing rodmonster. I feel it comes down to this. No one but God should be glorified and this happens in our hearts. So it's up to the individual and only God knows our hearts (spirit).
The model to follow is Jesus, we are to become "Christ like" And Jesus was born, we do celebrate His birth, the greatest gift.
Sure Christmas is giving gifts and sharing with others.
I don't think the comparison Rod posted was "knocking Santa", it was just a comparison to remind Christians. Those who have ears to hear. Nothing more.
We all have our personal feelings concerning this but the message of Christmas is love and giving, so we all need to give others love and grace for that enables us to be giving.
Merry Christmas everyone!

One of my favorite sculptures I have seen is one with Santa standing in the manger holding his hat in hand, head bowed to Jesus in the crib. I think Jeff has a good point about the real Santa, but he never to be put above Christ. No man is above Christ.

the winter solstice is still celebrated...but Christmas is about a christian celebration...the huge birthday party for Jesus.....now we all know that this exact day prolly wasn´t Jesus´real birthday...it was put on that day and the time of the year, because winter solstice was already celebrated and it´s Christmas now....Everyone should be celebrating Christmas the way they want and feel....I just think it´s important to know why it´s called Christmas and why we celebrate...instead of when and how....to me Santa Claus and the Christmas , St. Nikolas and Kris Kringle are Christmas...and actually come from the Christian ways too....I just thought Rod´s post was cute and very powerfull...it shows how lovable and good Santa is...but it puts things in perspective and shows how wonderfull and strong Jesus is
