I just saw a commercial for a car that parallel parks itself. Are we getting lazier or WHAT?!?!?!

I saw this commercial, some people really have a hard time parallel parking. I've watched people at the post office work at it for 10 - 15 minutes.

But it's just like tying shoes. When I was a kid you had to learn to tie your shoes. Then there was velcro which so easily closed your shoes. Kids didn't learn how to tie shoes during the big velcro shoe days. What would have happened if we had run out of velcro?? We would have kids walking around tripping over their shoe laces.

(Please note - my example of how laziness and not learning how to do the "hard" things is me being funny. You can't tell when something is a joke in a post because you can't see my face or hear the tone of my voice.)

I agree I mean parking isn't that tough, I use the traditional 3 point parking method. I would say though those giant SUVs it would be hard to see where the curb is, how close is the car in front/back of you, etc.

I'd like an 18-wheeler that parks itself.

I'd like a Chrysler 300C to park itself in my garage

I'm pretty sure you can have that dream for a cool $30k!

The technology has been around for years. It's reliability has been questionable until now, though. Among the things not yet worked out or released we have cars that can drive themselves guided by buried wire and convoys of trucks that follow one truck with a driver (kind of like a train of sorts). Things like that which are currently in use: twilight sentinel headlights (turn on when they sense dark), auto dimming high beams when they sense an oncoming vehicle, windshield wipers that sense water, and buzzers that go off when they sense a lane change without a signal (I wish more cars had that). More stuff to break and more headaches for me. :x

I need a refrigerator that senses a lack of eggnog and phones the store for delivery.

I'll give my local store until Nov. 1st. If they don't have any by then I'm gonna stage a sit-in until they do. I only have two vacation days left, so they'll have to fess up pretty quickly! 8)

still no nog? Our Wal-Mart is stocked with various brands and looks like sales have been good since most of it was gone. They also had a few new creamers for coffee, one being peppermint mocha.

When I got home I saw the commercial for it on tv. Pretty cute if I say so myself.

I want some of that. My Wal-mart doesn't have that kind. I looked at them on Friday. They do have peppermint, gingerbread or pumpkin pie spice flavor coffee.

I thought from the title someone had started a thread about me.

Anyway, I can manage to parallel park if the need arises, but I think a car that does it for you would be kinda cool!

Me too considering I never mastered the art. I avoid places where I have to parallel park and that can be hard considering I work downtown. I have been known to drive around until I can find a spot that I can just pull forward into.

I still can't get over the car/truck that you can unlock with your finger print. I just find it hard to believe.

Since I can't parallel park without much difficulty, I would love to have a car like that!

I don't like to park that way and avoid it if I can

Just buy a Mini and you can park nose first to the curb and still not stick out any further than the other cars.

I absolutely love how this discussion has flourished.

I wish I had the refrigerator that keeps track of what you have inside and then tells you when you are low on stuff. Just like the Jetsons.

Speaking of the Jetsons, I'd like that machine that Jane and Judy use to get dressed and do their hair. How easy would it be to get ready for work in the morning with THAT!!!

moped

Did you call me a mophead?

If I had one of those Jetson's machines it wouldn't save me any time at all. I could use a polishing machine, however.
