View Full Version : When Do You Put Your Christmas Tree Up?

Hey, well I been on this forum for a few days and I don't really know all of you yet. I personally believe that the Christmas tree is one of the most important parts of Christmas, that's why it's crucial to have the right tree and to put it up on the appropriate time. Anyway, enough of me rambling on I am currently in primary school to be exact I'm in year 5. My mother often put's the Tree on the 1st of December. She usually put's it up when we arrive home from school. It is a great family tradition! Well, what about everyone else when do you put your tree's up!!

God Bless,

Matt

That is just crazy putting your tree up only a few days before Christmas or even on Christmas Eve. I mean I just love looking at the tree when it is up and I enjoy putting it up and so fourth. Why would you put it up so close to the date to then only take it down. I just love seeing the tree and feeling the spirit of Christmas. Sorry, as you can tell I love Christmas way to MUCH!!

God Bless,

Matt

I always put my Christmas Tree up with my family on December 1st no fail. As it is a unique tradition I have grown up with... My family and I put the Christmas tree up with all the decorations with Christmas Carols on in the backround.

Only 1 more month to go, until I put my Christmas Tree up!

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,

Yuppers, done it before and in fact did it last year too. I love doing it...you get to walk around and take as long as you want. They give you a hand saw and after you get it chopped down you can take it to them and they will bag it for you. The place we went last year was passing out hot chocolate and candy canes to munch on while we were browsing.

That sounds like loads of fun. All though I think we put ours up to early to have a real tree. ( :( because of no real tree & :-D :D :???: 8) because we put it up the week of Thanksgiving)

I put mine up the weekend of Thanksgiving and while it may be a little droopy by Christmas it is still alive. I make sure I water it everyday with warm water and keep it from heater vents.

I was thinking of opening an artificial tree farm. Have a variety of artificial trees mounted on wood posts out in a field. You can make your selection, cut off the post, tie the tree on top of your car.

I personally don't desire to kill a tree for a couple weeks of decoration. I'd rather see it growing and flourishing outdoors. Real trees are a tradition and are as much a part of Christmas as anything and I don't have any issues with those who buy and enjoy them. It's a personal choice.

GingerMel

I don't mind killing a tree if it comes from a tree farm and I go cut it down.

That way, the trees that don't sell stay in the ground and aren't just wasted. It kills me to see all those trees at the lots that won't get purchased. I totally want to buy them all and have a ton of trees (wasn't there a Friends episode about that).

The cool thing about the tree farms is that when you cut one down, they plant another one. Awesome!

We usually end up getting the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, but just out of pure busy-ness. That weekend is usually very close to my birthday too, so that's always what I want to go do for it.

The day before my thirtieth birthday we went to Biltmore Estate and saw it completely decorated, then on the day itself we got the tree and decorated it. What a great 30th!

I am going to try to talk the husband into getting the tree next weekend (18th). He's usually up for it totally, but we are limited as to when the tree farms are open and when our friends who always go with us are willing to go. They always want to wait...I've actually gone without them before. I may do it again.

OH and one more plug for the Christmas tree farms...the trees last lightyears longer than one from a lot. My friend got his before Christmas and had it through Valentine's one year. hah hah. They do suck up a TON of water though...and you can NOT let them run dry or you will totally shorten the lifespan of your tree.

I sitll live at home and the big tree in the living room is bought from a tree farm the saturday after Thanksgiving. We let the branches fall out over night and we decorate it Sunday after church. However, I put up my tree in my room yesterday. It is beautiful if I do say so myself. Only ballerina ornaments on it. I will try to get a picture of it on here.

I love the chaser sets I have. I would really like to do the outside with covered LEDs but the only ones I've seen have those checkered covers on them. :-? Then of course they're awfully expensive. Hopefully by next year we'll have more options and maybe they'll be a little cheaper.

Ervserver
11-13-2006, 08:45 AM
I'm waiting for the led lights that change colors. I imagine a control box that you can choose solid colors, multi colors, a mix, etc. all from one set of led lights

HolyNight7
11-13-2006, 10:23 AM
You start talking control boxes and it sounds like a concert to me.

dominick
11-13-2006, 10:25 AM
It would be totally do-able, but probably pretty expensive. I still want to make my house-specific strand of C9s with heavy gauge wire and control box. Now you got me thinking custom LED set.

Ervserver

I have single led lights on my train layout that can be red, green, or yellow depending on the voltage

dominick
11-13-2006, 10:40 AM
Yeah, I've seen them perusing through Fry's electronics. Awhile back I went through a stage of messing with clocks... making new faces for them and what not. This one black clock I made a perimeter of bright blue LEDs for and had a three position toggle switch; off, low, and high. I was seriously considering buying the multi color LEDs but didn't want to put out the cash.

Ervserver
11-13-2006, 10:44 AM
It's time to cough up, why don't you and your friends Master card and Visa place a portly order

dominick
11-13-2006, 10:52 AM
Well I gave up playing with clocks once we had more clocks than rooms. Making a Christmas light set is out of the question right now. Not only would the materials cost several hundred dollars, but it would take some planning for the control end of it all. On the plus side, if I did it right, it would probably last for the rest of my life and overloading the circuit wouldn't be much of an issue.

Ervserver
11-13-2006, 11:40 AM
you may even be able to sell a few sets
