It has a light sensor so the chimes don't play when it's dark. The clock and the chimes also have separate batteries so you can turn off the chimes by taking out the battery for them.

It's pretty easy to send us all out shopping. How much of the song does it play? Is it midi-quality?

Basic midi quality and I'd say about 20 seconds of song play

When you think of how much information can be stored on a flash drive or played on an iPod, it seems like the folks who make these talking/singing/musical clocks could make them with more than 12 sounds. My Homer Simpson clock is getting old already.
