Myself and my GF will be moving across the country from the Metro - Detroit area to Seattle Washington.

My Girlfriend got a promotion and it will relocate us there. I am excited yet a little nervous as we know nobody in Seattle.

Is anyone from the Seattle area or has been to the Seattle area? I have only heard good things about it.

Wow, talk about a change in worlds!

Seattle is lovely. I've been there many, many, many times on business. Weather can definitely be an issue, but not the cold like you're used to. Lots of rain. But it is a gorgeous area.

My experience with the people in Seattle has been exceptional. Very friendly folks. Strong educated base there. Lots of diversity. Overall, very pleasant.

I'm sure you might experience some sticker shock when it comes to property. Seattle can be pricey. In other areas, like fresh seafood, for example, you will be pleasantly surprised, I'm sure.

I understand your nervousness but I think it is something to be excited about. A fresh start in a beautiful place! Keep us posted.

I've been only once to Seattle many years ago. Lovely city and beautiful area especially when you go a little more north. Nature is gorgeous there. Do remember to pack your waterproofs though, I heard it rains a lot there.

It is beautiful!!!!!! My sister lives about 1 hour north of seattle. It does rain alot in the winter and like Jeff said things like housing and food can be a bit pricey when compared to here in the midwest. The weather is pretty mild though. Most houses don't have central A/C becuase you usually don't need it. The winters are usually pretty mild. This year though they are calling for colder temps and more snow than normal. If you love to do stuff outdoors you will love seattle!!!!!!

I also forgot to say that traffic is horrible in downtown seattle but that is true for most major cities.

Congrats on the move! Best wishes! I have heard nothing but good things about the Seattle area, other than others have mentioned about the cost of most stuff being a little higher but with a better econmoy, overall higher income potential in that area than the Detriot area, should offest the higher cost of living!

Congrats on the apartment and the move...ive been to seattle a few times. have a brother that lives in the Arlington area about 45 minutes north. Im sure you will like it,one of the first things I noticed about that rain though is that most of the time its just a mist, not downpoures like us on the east coast get!
