For fans of the seasonal cans of caramel, cheese and buttered popcorn --
The brand sold at Wal-Mart, Houston Harvest, is selling a significantly smaller can for the same price as last year. Last year's can was 2lbs and 6 oz. this year's can is 1 lb, 14 oz.

I still bought some, but I did let them know that I noticed the change!!

Could they possibly have been losing money before? No, but they have to do things like this to make the more noticeable things, like $4 prescriptions and $1200 plasma TVs possible. :x

I've had a stick of Land-O-Lakes on my arm for a week now. Curbs the cravings.

I have heard that KMart is selling the larger size.
I guess if you're shopping for popcorn, beware of the size trick and check to make sure you're getting the full 2lbs, 6 oz.

thank you for letting us know. Ive noticed that with a lot of things recently. For example I love Taco Bell and I always get Pinto Beans & Rice. They now give a much smaller portion for the same price :( It is a very sad thing all the way around

you know I had the same taco problem. I get the 3 taco meal. the soft & the crunchy used to be the same price, now the soft are more! whats the deal?

Oh no you didnt. You had to go and open that can of worms. Do you know how BADLY I have been craving Popeye's. I swear it was yesterday I was thinking about (and drooling over) their hot and spicy chicken tenders. And the biscuits....oh and dont forget their mac and cheese....

I didn't even know Boston Market still existed. I ate there in Memphis one time, probably 7 or 8 years ago, and it was too much money for what you got. Not even a good atmosphere, which can sometimes make up for bad food.

if you go when they run the dollar chicken its a good deal. By the meal, whole chicken couple sides & another whole chicken for a buck. I never eat there though, I take it home

Boston Market almost went under a handful of years ago. Then McDonald's pulled their arses out of the fire and bought them out.

Boston Market built a new building here, stayed open a year then closed. I recall they catered a party I was at once and we ran out of meat. Many people never got any.

I could care less about the popcorn. I'm after the tin. I think I still have some of that bagged popcorn from several years ago... seriously.

mrshamm

Whenever we get the tins we get them mainly for the decoration too. I keep the caramel popcorn and give away the rest to my brother...he lives on that stuff...lol.

I kind of doubt it gets better with age. I'd throw it out in the yard but we've got squirrel problems as it is. I could always send it off to mrshamm's brother!
8-)

mrshamm

he'd love you for it...lol. Especially if you have the cheese flavored kind.

I wonder if his insides look like a bag of Cheetos.

mrshamm
11-08-2006, 11:50 PM
probably. My mom keeps telling him that if he doesn't lay off the popcorn then he'll end up looking like our father who is very large. He keeps eating it though.

dominick

I don't think the popcorn's too bad for him, is it? I've never really been concerned with it since I can only recall eating it a few times. Each time I feel like I've been fooled into eating packing material.

mrshamm
11-08-2006, 11:55 PM
 That's why I only eat the caramel kind and the really buttery stuff from the theatre.

We're afraid that it could hurt him eventually because he literally eats it all the time. If he doesn't have his basketball or guitar in his hand, he's eating popcorn...lol.

I have a snack bag of popcorn every morning for breakfast. Then I take Kraft's Mac and Cheese flavored popcorn topping and sprinkle on it. YUMMY!!!

There's a chef on the Food Network that eats leftover fresh popcorn as cereal the next morning with a dusting of sugar on it.

Christy Carol

The Dollar store has tins of one pound mixed nuts. I think they were either 3 or 6 dollars and the tins are really, really cute. I started to grab a couple tonite but considering I really like to snack on mixed nuts I decided I better leave them alone.
