I'm trying to get some lights hung outside, but it's a bit too windy for me to go up on the roof right now. :-?

When I was married and was to windy to go up on the roof I'd have the wife do it.

i am doing tons of "pre" work. sorting thru things and making lists of what i need to get to finish some projects (for instance, i just discovered that the movers broke a wreath of glass ornaments i made about 10 yrs ago. so i have to go buy some more to replace the broken ones.) cussword. it is my favorite wreath and i had it wrapped in so much bubble wrap and blankets, all i can think is that they took it our of the trunk it was in and stomped on it@!!!! btw... took a wire wreath frame (the ones with about 5 levels of wire, usually green) bought a bunch of 2" gold ornaments at target. superglued all their caps on then tied them to the frame with thin silver wired ribbon. simple elegant. broken. cussword.
also making a list of the things i need to get for the wreath i am going to do for sister's door. have decided on white, gold and silver theme for all decor for her.
and oddly enuf, not listening to xmas tunes. discovered new songwriter last night and hit itunes. been listening to BRETT DENNEN cd SO MUCH MORE. fabulous!!!!!

Well I got some of the lights up. A kamikaze squirrel nearly scared me half to death and I was wrong about it not being cold enough for ice on the roof, so I decided to call it a day after I got the first level front strung. Now I'm going to do some decorating inside and go see Santa Claus 3 later if plans hold up.

Freakin' thing was crazy. It jumped off the tree towards my house and came within like four feet of me. That may not sound very close but to someone who is afraid of heights as it is and trying to untangle Christmas lights on top of a roof, it was pretty startling.

I was told by an older southern gentleman that the proper way to prepare squirrel was to cube the meat and put it over rice.

Did Sheep mention what kind of rice?

Never heard of a true sutherner cubing squirrel....the proper way to serve squirrel is to batter and fry it in a cast iron skillet and then take the grease off of it and make brown gravy. After the gravy is done you then re-add the fried squirrel. Serve it over both biscuits and potatoes....catch that I said BOTH

As far as doing anything Christmas today I did go to Wal-Mart and buy some blue icicle ornies, a set of blue dressed snowmen, another snowman ornie with blue on it and an angel topper that is wrapped with silver ribbon and holding blue beads. I checked out everything else they had but I had to move on to buying my groceries.

we got the kids new stockings today and tomorrow my hubby is helping me figure out the best way to hang lights out on our balcony. We haven't bought the lights yet because we're not totally sure what kind we're going to get.

Did you think I wouldn't catch this, wise guy? 8) I'm a "somewhat" older displaced yankee.

Plans for Santa Claus 3 went bust. We went all the way to the theater and found it to be way too crowded for our tastes so we went and looked at Christmas decorations at the various 24 hr mega stores around here. It was a fun night and I wouldn't be too disappointed if we were to just wait until it comes out on DVD to see it.

As for the squirrel, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it. By the way, I really appreciate Arkansas' stretch of 55. Smoothest of any road from here to Houston. Although I must admit that the first time I went through I missed an exit, got lost, and was cursing Arkansas for a while after that. :D I ended up spending one of those nightmarish anecdotal nights not too far outside of Little Rock (although I didn't know it at the time) in a place called Earl or Earle.

I didnt even know they had a motel. Should I be afraid to ask? Did you hear banjo's?

I believe Earle is half way between LR and Memphis

It looked like a trucker community for the most part. I actually lost my map, I had a GPS unit that was telling me to make a U Turn at 80mph, and I decided to stop there for the night. The motel was a Super 8. It had no cable (not a big deal, I just thought all motels had it), every two commercials was something about ducks, and half the room's power stopped working in the middle of the night (including the bathroom). On top of all that I'm completely lost with the useless GPS, no map, with all my possessions on the back of a truck, and no car and no place to live in a place I had never been before. To say I was doubting my decision to move would be an extreme understatement.

Went to American Sales this morning (a seasonal decoration type place for those that aren't familiar). First fifty customers got a free $10 gift card, and they didn't open 'til 11:00! There was no line and the girlfriend and I both got one.
:???:
I'm thinking of using them to replace my dearly departed rotating tree stand. They have one on sale for $40.

I was asking BF this morning if there was a motel there and he couldnt recall but said he knew there was a big truck stop so there might be one. It must be a little split in the road because it hasnt been that long I was over that direction and I honestly dont even recall seeing the exit.
