Greetings from Reno. Just stopped in long enough here to see if things are ok. Been a busy 40-hours or so I can see from the logs. The spammers have been a-hackin' away. Everything looks ok though. Anyone notice anything weird in the last day or so?

We've been getting hit with the same old stuff. Been seeing a lot of the "Shakira" spammer.

I haven't really been on much due to my rejoining the work force. I know dvdguy, dominick and Elfworks have been on top of the spammers that have been around.

Yep, I can see a trend in their choice of usernames. Weird. Seems they are using both bots and human signups. I just banned a guy who was live on the forums and got him based on usernames and email addies...he never got to post. Just keep an eye out, that's all we can do.

Jeff - I'll bet you are looking forward to some time home with the family during Thanksgiving.

Why do we keep the spammers logins?

We don't "keep" them. We register links and emails in the db to help build work-arounds to links they post so that we can avoid from having them reposted. We're working on a purge to remove those unused, bogus registrations but it won't be done until sometime next month.
