"It's one of the busiest days in terms of traffic but not in sales," said Pam Rucker, spokeswoman for the National Retail Federation. "But the mystique is still there."

I think when we did a poll of ourslves we found that the majority of us don't venture out that day and we're supposed to be the Christmas nutjobs. I know boatloads of people don't go out because of the craziness. Lots of folks are still at home enjoying family, installing extensions on their belts, putting up decorations, drinking eggnog, etc.

We got out just for the fun of the 'hustle and bustle' - our shopping is done already!! WOO WOO!
Plus this year there's the great LCD HDTV deal at Home Depot - $478 for a 32"

I heard on CBS World News last night that Black Friday is NOT the busiest holiday shopping day of the year, it is the 5th busiest . In fact this year it is speculated that Dec. 23rd (which falls on a Saturday) will be the busiest shopping day with Dec 4th being the busiest online shopping day.

Why? They can get them at the Dollar store everyday for that price. Crazy what people will do if they think they are getting a bargain.
