Just after the 4th of July the Ornament Exchange will open. Shortly after that the card exchange gets going. And then....a special announcement later this year about a new exchange...

My heart is jumping! lol what exactly does this entail?

thanks Jeff. FOr the newbies to this exchange or both exchanges..... it is so much fun. I love getting the cards from all over the world. love the ornament exchange to, so fun shopping for just that right ornament you know someone will love and adore.

actually it ranges. I went and bought cards in after Christmas bulk a few years ago and now I have A LOT of blank cards.

I was wondering since im new to this, how many cards should I be looking at sending?, since its my first year i want to send them to everyone!!

I've done this at least twice and there were a lot of names on the list when I participated a couple of years ago...more than 60 but less than 100? I can't remember.

But you aren't required to send cards to everyone. Some people do and some people don't.

For example, when I made the cards a couple of years ago, I honestly just could NOT make cards for everyone on the list. I stayed up night after night trying and finally, I just started sending them to the people I knew and to the people who sent cards to me from MMC. That way if they sent me one I at least sent them one. But the year that I bought them, I sent them to everyone. It ends up being not too expensive to do it when you calculate it out and I can't tell you how enjoyable it is. I got SO MANY cards. I LOVED it.

I'm still having trouble when I click on the link then it boots me and I have to wait a few hours before I can get back on............I will get this to work darn it! I want on them there lists! LOL

I keep getting a error on page thing when I click the card exchange, but did fine when I went to the link for the ornament exchange that Merry Carey put on here been trying to sing up for a couple of days now. any words of wisdom? can I just pm someone with my info? lol I'm fit to be tied here!!! and why dont I see my signature? and cant into the podcasts? I'm still just shaken my head :x

I am excited to partake in it this year again! Last year, I was unemployed and was sad that I wouldn't be able to join in on the fun, but then in October I got a new job! Funds were low, so I only got to send cards back to those who sent me cards, but it was fun to participate and I am looking forward to sending out more this year.

This year I'm not making my cards, everyone will get a store bought one! The ones I had intended to make is taking to long to make.... :( But I'm hoping to have a poem written by then. I can hardly wait to get cards.......:gift:

The card exchange is lots of fun! I sent to everyone the two years I've been doing it. Last year, 2 of them were returned in January and not deliverable. :razz: I decided to do all of the exchanges this year. Don't know how hubby will feel about it but I just can't cut this part of Christmas. I enjoy the exchanges! I'll scrimp and save to do it. I already have cards. I'll just need to pay for postage and if I do a bit each week for a few weeks, it won't be so bad.

am just gonna sent and sent
am in northern ireland so all the ones in the usa etc will have to go airmail
But i think its a really nice idea if you cant share a card with a christmas friend at christmas whats the point they are the people that your be in touch with almost every day of the year when everyone else has forgot about the christmas spirit :tree:

I agree. This will be my first year to do any exchange(planning to do all 3) but I love the idea of cards or ornaments from all over the world. I look forward to sending cards overseas and getting them in return. Christmas cards are exciting no matter where they come from but to open the mail and find envelopes with postmarks from far off places I dream of visiting makes it even more of an enchanting experience.

I really look forward to these two eventes very year. Sadly, I'm going to have to refrain from signing up for the Christmas card exchange as this year has been extremely tight for my family, financially. I really enjoyed it in the past, but this year is just hasn't been a very good one. God willing, we certainly pray that next year will be financially better for us.

CLOSING DATE FOR THE 2011 CARD EXCHANGE IS OCTOBER 30th

As we are still experiencing glitches on there, if you wish to participate and haven't as yet added your name to the list, please send me a PM with your username, real name and the address you'd like your cards to be sent to.

I've compiled the list into 2 formats; word and PDF. Hope this works for everybody!!!!

The final list will be sent out during the first week in November!!!!!

I have always been in the card swap but this year when I click the link it takes me to sign up to be a paying member. I really cannot afford to become a paying member, but I still would like to participate in the card swap if that is possible. Please let me know.

My family signed up for the ornament exchange and gift exchange this year. We received our gift and opted to not open until Christmas (as instructed). Haven't received an ornament yet in return but we're hopeful that it will come. We cherish the ones we've gotten in the past and hope those that have gotten something from us will feel the same. My family gets really excited about partaking in these events.

I really wish I opted for doing the cards this year. We've done it for the past few years but just couldn't swing it this year because of finances. We're feeling the effect from that decision because we typically receive many cards when involved in the card exchange...this year we've only received a few cards from some friends and family. It seems like many people we know are taking a back seat in sending cards this year, so I commend those who opted to do it despite the woes of our economy. I certainly hope to be able to jump back in to the card exchange for next year. It's a sad sight to see only a handful of cards hanging from our mantle this year when in Christmases past we've received almost 100 or so through the christmas card exchange. I'll have to make sure to buy a few books of stamps throughout the year so I'll be better prepared for Christmas 2012. Lesson learned.
