July turned out to be one crazy month at the north pole. The 4th of July part was insane. Ms. Claus and the kitchen staff cooked turducken's by the hundreds and all of the cookies an elf could desire. The kitchen staff also fixed hot chocolate by the barrel. After dinner the elves all migrated to the town square to watch the fireworks show. Santa had secretly been working with the Zambelli family to pull off the biggest fireworks display ever at the north pole. They had all of the normal fireworks but the also developed some special shells. They had snowflakes, angels, bells, teddy bears, and for the finale they had a series of shells that formed Santa in his sleigh with all 9 reindeer. They even had a red nose on Rudolph. The elves were amazed and can't wait to see what Santa and Ms. Claus come up with next year. The day after the party the elves all got back to work. The workshop has fallen a little behind because of so many elves going on vacation. They only produced about half the amount of toys they were planning on for July. The wrapping department is starting to make headway on the giant backlog of presents they have because of the remodel but they still have a long way to go. The stables are letting the reindeer take it easy for a couple of more weeks. They were pretty exhausted after the trial run because of the heat wave engulfing much of the northern hemisphere. The kitchen is still cranking out hard candy for Santa to put in stockings and will soon start working on gummy candy. The sleigh department is working on a few issues that came up during Santa's trial run last month. They lost communication with the sleigh somewhere over Russia and was never able to reestablish contact. The plan had been for Santa to abort the run if problems arose but Santa didn't because he said the reindeer and sleigh were flying fine. It could pose a major problem on Christmas eve though if Santa can't contact his restocking points. Santa plans on spending most of the month helping the wrapping department and doing test runs to work out the glitch with the radios. Santa's pleased with the progress made in July but has told the elves it's time to kick it into a little higher gear so they can try to get a little ahead of the game by the end of the month.
