I'm pleased to announce a new tradition, an idea I've been contemplating for a long, long time.
If you had asked me 20 years ago that we would be connected as a community and as a family in the way that we are I never would have believed it. It is a marvel to me to see the things that we do -- from the countdown to the exchanges to the radio stations -- isn't it amazing how Christmas brings us together?
The strength of community coupled with the spirit of Christmas is a powerful force for good.
None of it would happen without special individuals from all over the world. I thought it would be appropriate for me to acknowledge once a year one special individual who stood out amongst our community of superstars and present them with the MMC Founder's Award -- a once-a-year Christmas tradtion of gratitude and recognition for outstanding contributions to all of us who call MMC home year round.
There are sp many worthy of this recognition. But I would be remiss if I did not recognize at the top of our list one shining star of constant Christmas giving, compassion and spirit:
Caninemom3
Many of you know Caninemom3 (http://mymerrychristmas.com/forum/member.php?u=6410) on a personal level. Even though few of us have actually met face to face isn't it amazing to say that about a person you know only online? And yet how many can say we're close to Caninemom3?
I would bet that number is up in the dozens here on MMC alone.
And that's because Caninemom3 knows and understands the art of personal giving. She is often the first to greet new members and visitors, always quick to reach out, a first-responder when someone is down, in trouble or needs a boost.
She is famous for her love of animals and you can literally hear the love of people she has as she talks about them.
This past year I extended an invite to Caninemom3 to become a member of the Christmas Crew. I did that for obvious reasons. If ever there was an ambassador of everything that MMC stands for, it is Caninemom3. And she dug in with her duties without hesitation, volunteering considerable time and effort in providing service to our members seen and unseen.
For the 2nd year in a row Caninemom3 has chaired the Christmas Ornament Exchange, an annual project that extends over a period of as long as 8 months and requiring hundreds of emails, PMs and hours and hours of follow through.
It is no surprise to anyone that Caninemom3 has by far and away the most posts here on My Merry Christmas. But it isn't the quantity of posts that I so very much appreciate it is what those posts are made of. As a body of work, if you had time to review it all, you'd see a day after day campaign of love, contribution, service and concern for others.
Please join me in congratulating and thanking Caninemom3 for her ongoing outstanding contributions to My Merry Christmas!
Jeff
