Here are some pictures of our local Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics. I jumped with our Principal and one of our counselors. The Gilligan Island crew is our local power plant employees. They won the costume contest. The little girl in the box is one of our students from the Jr. High. Enjoy!!!

It looks like everyone is having a great time. I know everyone here said it was fun & they looked forward to doing it every year. From what you said it was cold & the lake had ice on it. BURRRRRRR!!!!!
Thanks again for helping out the Special Olympics.

The temps were in the upper 40's and the water was 32 degrees. But I sat in a snow bank to acclimate. We had a ball. Next year the plunge will be on Valentine's Day again and I've got ideas for costumes this time.

Yeah I don't get the whole jump in the water when its cold enough to come out with icicles on you haha...maybe I'm too wimpy for that.It is a fundraising event for the special olympics that is done in every state each year. We had ours here the week before Head Elf had hers, since they had the NY state games here.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like you had fun. I give you credit :yahoo:cause there is no way I am jumping into a body of water outside in winter unless the water is heated to 80 degrees. LOL!

Well, this year we had more jumpers (plungers) than last year, we also made almost $20,000.00. The person that set this up went with our athletes to Alaska and Japan. They had a great time. I would like to do a Plunged all States, I think that would be fun. Being from Northern Illinois has its perks when cold weather hits.
