How early should the retail industry begin to sale Christmas merchandises or their Christmas advertisement campaign that is acceptable to us as consumers?

:tree:I think Christmas in July is good time to start selling Christmas stuff.

I like to buy gifts for Christmas all year long, but to see Christmas decor, etc. in the stores before November make me feel like we are rushing the season. However, I am forever scouring flea mkts, etc. for Christmas antiques and seeing things there doesn't bother me, Not sure why?!

I voted for Christmas in July. I find that it is easier for me to spread my holiday buying. There is still alot of Christmas decorations I want to buy but there is no way we can afford to buy it all at once on top of gifts. Once the stores start displaying the advertising and displaying Christmas, we start browsing and slow buy a piece here and there when the budget allows. Plus this also allows us to plan in advance how we are going to decorate the house inside and out, incorporating the new pieces.

Buying through the year is a lot easier than waiting till Black Friday...

Yeah Christmas in July is great...I really want to see that on t.v. too.

I love shopping on Black Friday! I get alot of shopping done and save a ton of money.

I'm okay with October. I don't want the Christmas stuff to crowd out the Halloween items but a few things here and there are okay and then, on Nov. 1, all bets are off. In my world, Nov. 1 marks the start of the Christmas/holiday season!

:sparkle:

If it were up to me, I would like to see the stores sell Christmas items all year. That leads me to another thought.......there is a fantastic all year Christmas retailer in Michigan called Bronners. They have their own website and I think its great.

You can order a free catalog or just browse online. It is well worth looking at their website.

I'd say November...because once Halloween has come and gone, people will be thinking about Christmas stuff...heck, look at it, the Christmas stuff comes out the same time the Halloween stuff gets marked down, and the Christmas music plays all over the store's radio.

This one is hard for me... I like that they sell early, but at the same time, I wouldn't want to be going into a store from the sweltering heat to see the place decorated for Christmas! I like to keep the season 'in season', if you know what I mean. It keeps it more special.

I like seeing the Halloween stuff come out in late August (it sometimes comes out before! Crazy.).

I said October for cards and decorations. Mid November for the whole enchillada!

I'm definitely in the minority over here. Its an uphill battle, living among people who've decided Christmas is just another overblown retail opportunity. I know there's lots of people on both sides of the Atlantic who feel that way. I make it my mission to remind folks that money has nothing to do with the Season. cheesy
