Hi guys,
I am a huge fan of Patrick Swayze, the film Ghost in my opinion is the best film of all time, he is a very talented actor and from television interviews that I have seen he seems like a very genuine, kind and caring man, not to mention the charity work that he does. Not so long ago, he was a breakfast programme in the UK and surprised a lady that was suffering with cancer with a big bunch of flowers and lot's of hugs and kisses, she was ecstatic as she was a big fan.
It is so sad that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, apparently he is responding well to treatment but from research the prognisis is never great. I ask you all to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers and please God he will beat this. It is such an evil disease and it affects too many people, may there soon be a cure.

i really hope that you are right. i was reading up on pancreatic cancer and apparently it's the worst form of cancer you can get for prognosis, even if detected early. basically the odds of survival are lower than any other type, having said that people DO survive it and i sincerely hope that he does. this really has upset me, i just hope he and his family get through this. x

They are saying that he is having chemo treatments , but that is kind of cancer is the #1 killer in men, this is the same kind of cancer that killed Micheal Landon. I hope & pray that he makes it . A fantastic actor loved him in Ghost & Dirty Dancing. My prayers go out to him & his family.

I saw that. I am sure he will be ok. They found it early, and the cancer is only in a small part.

I read about this. It is so sad. I feel for him and his family. My father died of pancreatic cancer, so I know how horrible it can be. I hope he is going to be okay. I loved him in Dirty Dancing and The Outsiders.

I heard about this the other day. It's a nasty cancer, there's no doubt about that, but according to what I've read, one of things that makes it particularly difficult to battle is the fact that people are not usually diagnosed until it is in its advanced stages. If it's diagnosed early enough maybe there's a chance that he can beat it.
Regardless, like my aunt who battled a nasty breast cancer said, "maybe the 5 year survival rate is only 5%, but someone has to be in the 5%, right?"

Pretty tough.
I've liked Patrick Swazye, but more so for roles like the one he had in Roadhouse or North and South. Everyone mentions Ghost but I have to tell you, I've never heard such poorly written dialogue in all my life like what was produced for that movie. My sister and I watched the movie and laughed at all the wrong parts because the dialogue was just so stupid. "I love you ---" "Ditto!" ... who talks like that?
Long live Orry Main!

I was sorry to hear this as well, I was really surprised to hear that he is 55...I thought of him as younger than I am and I'm only 45..."Only" 45...sheesh...who am I kidding...

hehe! it's a chick flick, my partner hates to watch it because he says it's really corny but it makes me weak at the knees! i defy anyone to watch it and not at least have a tear in their eye by the end. (i bawled my heart out, still do everytime i watch it)

I will pray for him as many people prayed for me during my battle with cancer. The thing I really admire about Patrick is that he and his wife have stayed married for 32 years, which says a lot about both of them.

Amen to that. It also says something about his parents and upbringing. He was a Hollywood brat...not too many of them have lives you admire.

That's for sure, gone to drugs & drinking with no recovery. He fought & won the war, yet for cancer to get him.

I hate cancer. If the world spent as much money trying to cure diseases as they do waging wars imagine how better our lives could be.

*Update*
"Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi Renew their Wedding Vows"
Patrick Swayze and wife Lisa Niemi have reportedly renewed their wedding vows in a private ceremony at their New Mexico ranch.
After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the start of the year, Patrick is said to have been helping settle his affairs, including his will and funeral arrangements, in case his ongoing treatment is not a success - but the romantic ceremony, held in front of a small group of close friends, was meant to be a more positive occasion.
A source told the Boston Globe: “It was very important to [Patrick] to express his love and commitment to Lisa. They both mean the world to one another.
“[The cancer] is deadly serious. Doctors have told him that if or when the cancer spreads to his brain he has two weeks to live.
“He is refusing to give up, but right now he’s living for today.”
Patrick and Lisa are set to celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary on 12th June.

**Update Update**
Patrick Swayze has spoken publicly about his battle with pancreatic cancer. http://blufiles.storage.msn.com/y1pHLL9ojgA27_H84tHoEVS8xo9H2zyJKwDX1iJSbSe8yyu_kI YkJfosK4m1xedGkqG?PARTNER=WRITER (http://blufiles.storage.msn.com/y1pkjwvguq1MnLpJG3MGlq0MRwLya3E5AJfc7K9hz8ir_cXxXi zCYN2QNpOdn1oeZg6?PARTNER=WRITER)
It was revealed back in March that the Dirty Dancing star had an aggressive form of the cancer, with some reports stating he only had weeks to live.
The 55-year-old has been undergoing intensive treatment at Stanford University medical centre in California and sticking to a strict diet, including lots of fresh fruit and vegetable juice, in an attempt to beat the disease. He said: “My treatments are working and I am winning the battle. I am juicing every day along with other treatments and all I can say is that it’s working fine and really well.”
