View Full Version : Gas Prices - Just curious
I'm just curious to see what gas prices are like where you live. I paid $3.16/gal for regular unleaded yesterday. When I went past the same gas station this morning, it was up to $3.23/gal.
How are the prices where YOU live?

3.13 for regular here in Montana...I think diesel is well over 4/gallon. Someone told me the other day gas is well over 5 in California. I don't see it going down anytime soon either. We just may see the same prices as California this summer. It really wouldn't surprise me.

Right! I've been sitting here with my calculator for the past 1/2 hour, so prepare to be dazzled and amazed.
We are paying (this is where the calculator comes in) $2.27 (£1.12) per liter for fuel here. Now, bear in mind there are 3.78 liters IN A GALLON. I work that out to be........wait for it
$8.58 per gallon
It's ridiculous and we don't even get a good public transport system.

IMHO, US oil companies have been slowly working gas pricies to European levels for about five years now. Prices were way higher there even when we visited in 1983 & 1995.
How much of your cost per liter goes for taxes, Maureen?

About $3.79 -- amazing production is down because nobody's demanding more oil -- yet the price remains high. The major oil companies report $192 BILLION profits for last year and we're duped into believing gas has to be $4 or $5 when it doesn't have to be above $3.25 -- as long as we're stupid enough to pay, they're smart enough to charge us an arm and a leg

You're even lucky to have a price like that as gas/petrol/diesel prices and taxation in the UK is really high... I don't personally drive as I resort to buses mainly but the price is nearly double the amount you're paying currently I believe... taxation is because that's the main way governments get the money they need to waste :)...

Yes,there are several places that do that .
I saw a story about it on CNN about a week ago. Some gas stations are even resorting back to attendant's pumping the gas to keep costumer's from using credit card's.
Here is an article from USA Today

Gas here is still $3.38 .
I just don't understand how/why some gas station's can continue to charge $3.80 and more ,but yet here in Tennessee they have what are said to be the lowest price's in the US.If one person can do it they should all do it ,rather than price gouging the costumer's.
It's going down a little. Now it's about $3.49 for regular. I wonder if it will be going back up as Labor Day weekend is coming up?

over here in Germany the prices have been exploding for the last few years.....one liter (.26gallon) costs 1,50....which is about 3Dollars....someone of you guys could send me some gas over here tho...i΄d really appreciate it....driving becomes more and more expensive over here....and when it continues like that....lots of lower middleclass families won΄t be able to have cars....I mean it....insurance, taxes and the high amount of gas money is just insane
I have a question. I have heard other places don't do this. Here in MI the price for gas is lower if you pay in cash. Using your credit card is usually about 10 cent higher.

We just filled our tank today at $3.78 a gallon. Our area is the highest in Oregon and from the sound of it the rest of the US. They say ours is so high because it is out of the way. I would like to know how when they have to go right past us to get to the other cities north and south of us and is 30 to 50 cents a gallon cheaper there. We live right on interstate 5 and have to drive right through our largest town in our area. Just have to go off freeway to get there about 1 mile off to our holding tanks. That is way out of the way I guess.
Our little town is $3.99 a gallon so we fill up when we go to Roseburg.
