Santa Claus flew back to North Pole airspace moments ago to the cheering of the elf families who went outside to see him fly home. He was followed by a long procession of empty sleighs, all pulled by reindeer who volunteer for the Santa effort. Nearly all the sleighs had their bells jingling and were decorated with colorful, flashing Christmas lights.
When Santa touched down he jumped out of his sleigh and made a brief speech, declaring the end of Operation Merry Christmas 2005 and pronouncing success upon the merry effort.
And thus ends another merry season at the North Pole. Tomorrow, another long campaign begins.
Thank you for all your kindness tonight. We appreciate all your emails of concern and apologize for not being able to answer them all. From our home here at the North Pole to yours wherever you are, we wish you a fond Merry Christmas.
