For many of us summer is just around the corner and with it (hopefully) comes vacation season. So, I thought I'd ask about vacations. Do you have one planned for this year? What was your favorite vacation? Any funny vacay stories to share??
I'll start:
This year I hope DH and I will get to go for a week's vacation to Gettysburg, PA. It's the vacation we were supposed to take last year but had to cancel when DH buggered up his leg at work. However, this year I've got my fingers crossed for everyone to be healthy and ready to go when the time comes!
We'll probably head out the first or second week in Sept. so that we can celebrate our anniversary at the same time. While we're there we'll take a tour into Washington D.C. as well as hitting Hershey (c'mon, it's the chocolate city...we HAVE to go), and hopefully we'll also have time to fit in a visit to Lancaster County and the battlefield at Antietam.

Unfortunately our big vacation for the year is already over! We went on a cruise to Grand Caymen & Calica, Mexico in March with 8 other couples & we had a super great time! Now all that's left are the pictures & many awesome memories!! :)
Every year we go to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky with friends. We are planning to go in August. I love vacation!!!

We always go to the beach for a week for the Fourth of July. We have so much fun. We always plan a bunch of stuff to do. We stay right on the beach so when we are watching the fireworks, we go in our room because its freezing at night (Thats Oregon for ya lol)
Wow , I have to start planning it. It will be here before I know it!

No real vacation for myself or my fiance. We're keeping the strings tight for our house and our wedding, but we did take our stimulus checks and spend them on a honeymoon to the Bahamas!

I'm not sure exactly what we are doing yet...Last year we took our daughter to South Dakota. We went to Bear Country USA and also Mount Rushmore. This year we may go to the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park for some camping and hiking.

We might take a long weekend to Orland in July if the economy doesn't take a worse nose dive (and if I still have a job at that time!)

We just got back home from being in Concord, North Carolina for the NASCAR All Star Race this past weekend. Hopefully, we will be hitting the Gulf Coast of AL/FL this Fall.

No vacation this year... we just bought an older house a few months ago and gutted it..we have it about 1/2 done.....so no trip cause every penny we have is going into getting the house finished so we can move in... hopefully by mid summer.

Let's hear it for K K! Wasn't that awewome? He was voted into the race by his fans and won! Too cool!
Guess I stood out with no race team affiliation gear, eh? Who else would wear a Braves Baseball Cap to a race anyway?

Yep, that was very awesome! His interview was funny "I can't believe I just won a million dollars!!!" And being voted in by the fans...too cool!!!
Loved the cap! :)

We are taking a short trip to the beach, and then in December we are going to Universal Orlando.

That sounds like fun...although I can't imagine freezing on the Fourth of July, but the idea of watching fireworks over the water sounds amazing!

I've never been to Myrtle Beach but I hear it's lovely. Heck, anywhere where there's sun, sand and no phones sounds darn near heavenly to me right now!

Inexpensive day trips can be just as fun as a vacation. Goodness knows my DH and I have had to do that more than a time or two...do you have any good, inexpensive attractions near you? We love to hit local state parks and historical sites.

Christmasnut Congrats on the new house!! That must be so exciting and a LOT of work. I hope you get finished sooner than you expect and that you'll be all nicely settled into your new home before you know it!
Cipalla Thank you! I just may take you up on that when the time gets closer. I'm such a *planner* but even though I do all the research there's just no substitute for the advice someone who has been there and knows the area well.
My DH raves on Universal at Orlando. I've never been but he says it's amazing. I hope you have a great time!

I don't know why I didn't think to reply to everyone in a single post like this instead of making a million individual replies. I'm such a dork! *slapping self on forehead*
Anyway, I hope everyone has safe and happy travels wherever they may be going this year. Oh, and I'd love to see pics when you all get back!!!

I'm a bit late getting in on this, but Sunshine I just have to say that my hubby and I were in Gettysburg this summer, for the battle reenactment. We belong to a group that went out - I was on a bus with 51 guys and 4 other women, and yes, I slept in a tent on the battlefield. It was an amazing site, about 15,000 reenactors, 400 cavalry, 100 cannon. I'll never forget it. Have you ever been to one of the reenactments there?
