I have to say that I am a very blessed person. My parents always put us children first, in every situation. My father went to work everyday, and mom stayed home with us, and took in other peoples children, to help pay the bills. The holidays were HUGE in my family. Christmas was not all about the presents. We were taught about the meaning of Christmas, and to this day, we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus before any presents can be opened. We were told that Santa brings one present to each child, and we were very happy to receive that present. I remember waking up Christmas morning (on more than one occasion) to find someone that I did not know, sitting by the tree. Mom and Dad always took in someone who did not have family, or did not have anywhere to go for the holiday. They would even make sure that there was a stocking and presents under the tree for that person. And it was not just Christmas, it was year round, someone to dinner, or staying in the spare bedroom til they got on their feet. My parents taught us compassion, love, sharing and caring for one another. I am grateful for the upbringing that I had, and have been raising my daughter the same way. Compassion, Love, sharing, understanding....these are learned values...pass them on to your children
