Happy 4th of July...all my USA friends!!! Off to barbeque and fireworks later today but for now a bit of Christmas in July News.

Christmas Chatter Christmas Memory from MHH member Mrs. Soup:

One of my favorite things was going to my aunt and uncle's on Christmas Eve for a family dinner. All the family would be there, aunt's, uncle's, cousins, etc. My grandma always made dumplings and we would have turkey and all the trimmings. Then we would all pile into the fireplace room where the tree was and pass around gifts and open them. The kids usually did a drawing and we just brought a gift for whoever we drew, the adults did the same. Anyway, it was such a magical night back then, especially when it was snowing. Driving home I always thought the car tail lights and headlights looked like Christmas lights and I always got a tear in my eye driving past the decorated houses and listening to Christmas music.

Here's a link to information and directions about the little Christmas angels that will be our craft for of the week...Week Two is about the start!!! ANGELS

Some of our members are creating Christmas in July journals by writing everyday about a certain Christmas question. Wonderful member Pixiestick is leading this wonderful adventure:

This challenge is to get a nice blank journals ( or just open a new MS Word document) and start to write about your Christmas' past to preserve for your kids kids etc..(If you have to do it on the computer and print it out and make a little book then well... ok!) All you have to do is respond in your journal to ONE question a day. It is not really for sharing with the folks on the forum ( unless you feel moved to...) but to start the journaling juices flowing. Think of it as a gift to those you love. Reflect, dig deep , be honest and don't edit yourself --- JUST WRITE!

I will edit this post everyday to ADD the new question for the day. SO, check back daily to get the question of the day.

Let's Start!

1. Growing up- were your family's Christmas' plain or elaborate?
2. *What is the first Christmas you can recall? Give details.
3. What part, if any, did religion play in your families Christmas growing up?
4.Talk about your families Christmas tree growing up? Was it real? was there a tradition around getting it? Was it decorated the same each year? ligths-colored or white?

So Happy Independence Day and Happy Day Four of Christmas in July!!!
