My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

Special Post Day 1- "The Journey"

Posted 11-11-2013 at 11:34 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

This is not my style, I like to post in the "privacy" of the blogs, but our most special friend would be most proud of me doing it this way. I am anxious, but it is my time to do a little extra for MMC.

December 26, 2012 12:01 AM

It was over for most of the world, the greatest day of the year had come and gone. the wrapping paper still strewn on some floors across the country, and I am sure there were some lonely Christmas trees already on the sidewalk. I have a friend that is that way, you build up the hype and the fun just to throw it out the door as soon as Bing, Nat, and all the other crooners voices have not even finished echoing from the radio. It is not the end, but the beginning.

We may be sad at that time, but we know there are only 364 days to countdown to make the next year even better.

As we began that journey on the way Christmas 2013, the friendship here grows, we share our lives on The Countdown...

I Am Not Afraid

Posted 04-15-2013 at 09:01 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Here I sit, just hours after what looks to be a terrorist act at the Boston marathon, and I am saddened by the carnage, injuries, and casualties but angry that this has happened again.
My adult life has been riddled with terrorism, school shootings, and other disturbing issues caused by sick individuals. Boston is a city I love, a city I have loved since I was a young child when I would go see Boston Harbor, New England Aquarium, Boston Museum of Science, Fenway Park for many Red Sox games, and TD Garden for the Bruins. I have walked many miles in Boston, which is a great walking city, and I am sure I have walked by the area that was bombed more than once.
The innocence that once was part of this city, state, country is gone due to other acts such as the first WTC bombing in '93, Oklahoma City, and of course 9/11. After 9/11, I lived in fear of being involved in an attack. As the years have gone into the rearview, I can see that is no way to live, in fear of what you can't...

"You found your tail..."

Posted 04-10-2013 at 09:11 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I have been putting this off for a little while, due to lack of time and the amount of crying I have done since we lost our beloved CM3.
She was such a beautiful soul, not a mean bone in her body and she cared and adored for everyone here more than most could know.
Louann and I joined within a week of each other looking for pretty much the same thing, relief from the post-Christmas blues. I was looking for something to ease my mind from the end of the Christmas season 2009 and I finally decided to join MMC, I never planned to stay more than a few days but the magnetism of this place and the people here made it hard to leave.
Louann was one of the first persons to reach out to me like she did with so many others here, we were new here and we both stuck to playing on the "Fun & Games" boards for months and we chatted quite often especially after her stepson was diagnosed with lymphoma, she was so scared at that time and needed some support, I helped...

Put Up Your Dukes, Post-Christmas Blues.

Posted 12-28-2012 at 03:27 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

Here I sit just before 5pm on December 28, I just flicked on my outdoor display and the rest of the indoor Christmas lights. I go through this every year a few days after Christmas, the feeling of emptiness like the way it feels when a beloved family member leaves to back home after a visit. I am a full blown Christmas enthusiast and these are the dark days after a full year of anticipation, seeing people take down their Christmas lights while your driving around just feels like a punch to the gut. I love seeing the decorations but before we know it they will be downstairs under the stairs like Frosty from Christmas With the Kranks. My outdoor lights stay on until January 8, I try to keep them on until after my birthday which is January 7. My indoor lights and decor usually stays up until the first weekend after my birthday. As I have said before everything stays up that long because of my love of Christmas that goes back to my childhood and pleading with my parents to keep the tree and...

Black Friday Is Ruining Thanksgiving

Posted 11-23-2012 at 02:23 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)
Updated 11-23-2012 at 02:29 PM by xmas365

As someone who has been "behind the counter" for Black Friday the last 19 years in one way or another, another Black Friday has once again brought out the ugly side of the human population. When I first started working on Black Friday's I was an ignorant 18 year old kid who really never heard or paid attention to the concept. I never heard of "Doorbusters," "Black Friday," que lines, and so on. I worked people came in bought what they wanted and left, you rarely saw riots, trampling, fist fights arguments. In this society of instant gratification, and instant fame of YouTube you see these people making fools of themselves of what has become nothing more than legalized looting, I fear my safety going to work and I cannot enjoy my family time on Thanksgiving, with the anxiety I feel all day building before zero hour gets there, I am not the only one who feels that way because if we make one wrong move at the wrong time we could be the one being trampled or...
