My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

Birthday Thoughts

Tags birthday

My 36th birthday for all intents and purposes has come and gone. I have dreaded this one for a long time, not for the number my age has become but what happened to my mother at this age. Most of you know my mother passed away from breast cancer at age 36, leaving a stigma on that number possibly forever for me. I know the chances of me passing at age 36 are probably as likely as they were at 35 or 30 for that matter. It has been almost 20 years since that horrible day came and went, but the age 36 has never changed in my mind.

The other little thing I do for my birthday is leave make sure I leave all my Christmas decorations up and on through and at least one day past my birthday. I remember being a child and asking my parents to please leave the tree up for my birthday, they only did it once that I remember, but I remember being very happy when it happened. I have always loved Christmas, especially the tree. So my tree (and decorations) must always be up past my birthday...

This Is Not A Resolution, It's My Life.

Posted 01-02-2011 at 09:22 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I was going to bed an hour ago, and I have to much on my mind at this point. I go back to the real world tomorrow, kicking and screaming, now that my Christmas vacation is over. I love spending so much time with my wife and kids, it is the best thing in the world to see them grow, but as is always the case with the end of a vacation, I struggle with losing that time that I just spent with them. I work the opposite schedule from my wife, she leaves at 7am, I leave midday and don't get home until 9:30-10:30pm, I see her for less than an hour a day during the week. I was thinking today that my older boy JP, I see less than my wife, he is at school for most of the day, and in bed when I get home at night, the time he is home at the same time with me I am getting ready for the day, making breakfast for my boys, and loading him on the bus. I feel so guilty, because I spend so much time with LC now, when JP was 2, I was home by 5 every night, we would hang out and play, I would take him across...

Please Christmas, Don't Go

New Year's, out with the old, in with the new. It is also the "official" end of the Christmas season for most of the world, at this point most people still have their lights and trees up and on. After tomorrow the world will be returning to the same boring place it is for 10 months out of the year, no more beautiful displays, trees discarded on the side of the road, adored by people for the month of December, scrap now and quickly forgotten. I knew this was going to catch me at some point, those dreaded Post-Christmas Blues. I have that empty feeling in the pit of my stomach, tears well up in my eyes, and the feeling of missing a close family member after they move away is encompassing me. Why must I or we, as I have learned, feel this way when the best time of the year is coming to an end. I hate the way this feels and makes me question why I love Christmas so much if it means so much heartache when it is over, every year it is the same feeling. I know in my heart Christmas...

The Unacknowledged Christmas Visitor

Posted 12-28-2010 at 05:45 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

While looking at this Christmas and many of the Christmases past I see three constants that ring true for as many as I can remember. We all talk of Christmas being the birth of Jesus, the holiest night of the year with the spirit of giving being passed from year to year. The second one is of course Santa Claus, he does his magical flight every year starting the 24th of December giving those gifts to all the children. Then there is a third who is just as much part of Christmas in a different way as Christmas trees, lights, and cookies. He is in countless movies such as A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Polar Express, etc... He is at every Christmas party I attend, in my car, at the mall and so on. He wakes us up on Christmas morning with his voice. I look at the holiday season and cannot think of him not being there. Much like the anticipation of the season builds to a frenzy in October, he starts slowly reappearing around that time in a different role.
I am speaking of my...

Why I Need Christmas

Posted 12-27-2010 at 03:06 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

This past Saturday was the day most of us look forward to more than any other, as usual, it was the best Christmas ever. Just watching my boys faces as they open their new toys makes it all worth it, the sense of wonderment, the enjoyment, the surprise of their little sugarplum filled dreams come true. The whole season is just filled with the most wonderful feeling, next to love, it is the most wonderful feeling. I feel more joy filled, more outgoing especially when I wear my Santa Claus hat, and the smile that crosses my face almost non-stop from December lets say 20th knowing my favorite day of the year is just about here. I know I can say I love Christmas, and everything that comes with that day. Why is it that a day can bring those feelings out in us Christmas-philes? As usual with the season, they release all those polls and findings like How much would all the gifts from the 12 Days of Christmas cost, and such, but the one that I found the most shocking was now 9 in 10 Americans...
