Welcome to our newest member, Amy_theexplorer
My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

The Unacknowledged Christmas Visitor

Posted 12-28-2010 at 05:45 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

While looking at this Christmas and many of the Christmases past I see three constants that ring true for as many as I can remember. We all talk of Christmas being the birth of Jesus, the holiest night of the year with the spirit of giving being passed from year to year. The second one is of course Santa Claus, he does his magical flight every year starting the 24th of December giving those gifts to all the children. Then there is a third who is just as much part of Christmas in a different way as Christmas trees, lights, and cookies. He is in countless movies such as A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Polar Express, etc... He is at every Christmas party I attend, in my car, at the mall and so on. He wakes us up on Christmas morning with his voice. I look at the holiday season and cannot think of him not being there. Much like the anticipation of the season builds to a frenzy in October, he starts slowly reappearing around that time in a different role.

Why I Need Christmas

Posted 12-27-2010 at 03:06 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

This past Saturday was the day most of us look forward to more than any other, as usual, it was the best Christmas ever. Just watching my boys faces as they open their new toys makes it all worth it, the sense of wonderment, the enjoyment, the surprise of their little sugarplum filled dreams come true. The whole season is just filled with the most wonderful feeling, next to love, it is the most wonderful feeling. I feel more joy filled, more outgoing especially when I wear my Santa Claus hat, and the smile that crosses my face almost non-stop from December lets say 20th knowing my favorite day of the year is just about here. I know I can say I love Christmas, and everything that comes with that day. Why is it that a day can bring those feelings out in us Christmas-philes? As usual with the season, they release all those polls and findings like How much would all the gifts from the 12 Days of Christmas cost, and such, but the one that I found the most shocking was now 9 in 10 Americans...

The Santa Hat

Posted 12-22-2010 at 09:29 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

One of the most endearing symbols of Christmas for me is the simple red & white Santa Claus hat.
I remember from my youth I always wanted a Santa hat, but my parents didn't want to "waste their money" on one, I believe I asked for one every year. When I was 18 I finally bought my first Santa hat, I loved it and wore it everyday to work, and everyday through New Year's. As I have gotten older I don't wear it as often as I use to, I think it has something to do with my anxiety as I have to build up my courage to wear it to work nowadays. I finally wore it for the first time this year tonight, and that warm Christmas feeling filled me when I put it on, how come I waited so long to wear it? The reaction I get from people when I wear it is great, I get people come up to me and tell me their Christmas list, or just the "what's up, Santa?" The kids snickering, it's Santa, even though I have only the hat and not the suit. I guess it is hard not to laugh when you...

"You May Say That I'm a Dreamer..."

Posted 12-08-2010 at 07:42 AM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)

I wasn't planning on doing a second blog post today, but I feel compelled to do another with today being the 30th anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon. I was only 5 years old when it happened and I, at the time, had no clue who he was, but I do remember my father being upset about it. I would not become a fan of the Beatles until I was 18 years old, and I was just amazed by their music, but as I learned about each Beatle, I became most interested in the life of John Lennon, he like myself lost his mother at age 16, I felt I could relate to him in that way. He was a very witty, intelligent man, who stood up for what he believed, something I still need to work on. I loved his music especially the Beatles music, while most of his solo stuff was less than stellar, Imagine always sticks in my mind, and is one of my favorites. John Lennon was taken from this world to early by a crazed man, and sometimes I think what contributions he could have made in music, and or the world if he...

Santa Claus & Me

Posted 12-07-2010 at 10:40 PM by xmas365 (Christmas, Life, and Family)
Updated 12-08-2010 at 07:14 AM by xmas365

I recently touched on my youth beliefs in Santa in the thread "Parents Don't Want Their Kids to Know of Santa Claus" I would like to delve into that subject a little more.
As I said I believed in Santa a long time, well into my teen years maybe I should have seen the writing on the wall, but I truly believed, to the point where I would argue with my cousins he did exist. My early childhood was the Rockwellian vision of the perfect American family, Mom, Dad, and a little sister and a dog and cat, we had a little ranch house everything was picture perfect in the eyes of a boy of under 8 years old. Much like it is now for me I could not wait for Christmas, once I started seeing those Time/Life Treasury of Christmas Record commercials in September I started to get psyched for Christmas. We always had a real tree and we would let the branches "fall" outside overnight before decorating it, I always hated that, I wanted to decorate right then and there. Then the focus...
