Favorite Christmas novels?

YAY!!! THE NEW MESSAGE BOARD IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Alright so I'll start again:

What are your favorite Christmas novels/short stories/comic strips?

Mine: From December 2nd (or so) to December 25th, Jim Davis' legendary fat cat Garfield cracks me up on a daily basis. From Garfield's anticipation, to Jon being cheap with his Christmas tree to Odie trying to figure out what his oh-so-obvious gift is (a bone), every December I look forward to reading this comic strip on a daily basis.

As for books? Jeff Guinn's The Autobiography of Santa Claus. A great story that seemlessly weaves fact (story of St. Nicholas) with historical figures (Atilla the Hun!) and a bit of magic (of course). A wonderful read either for your child or the kid in you. 8-)

I'm a Victorian romantic. My favorite holiday novels/short stories are:

Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Tree
What Christmas Is As We Grow Up
The Haunted House

Washington Irving - Old Christmas

Louisa May Alcott - Little Women

I'm reading A High Sierra Christmas: An Untold Tale of Jeremiah Johnson byMark Stephen Taylor right now, I'm only a couple of chapters into it, but it is very enjoyable. It's available on Amazon in paperback and kindle format. :merry:

Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is a given!

I always recommend The Christmas Angel, a 1910 novelette by Abbie Farwell Brown. You can read more about it here.

Christmas Carol, no doubt.

Other than that, The Christmas Pearl by Dorothea Benton Frank. Really great book.

I tend to like Charles Dickens; A Christmas Carol, The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain, and The Cricket on the Hearth.

Just found a bootleg copy of the 1966 made for TV movie of this story. Only been released in black & white I had to go to the black market to get a color copy of it on DVD. Hadn't seen it since the '80s so I can't wait in the package comes in.

I haven't read too many, however of course "A Christmas Carol". I also read "Skipping Christmas" it was pretty good. I also read a book called "The Stupidest Angel" by an Author named Christopher Moore. He is an absurdist so the book may not be for everyone. I however enjoyed it. I recently bought the "Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" by Frank L. Baum which I have not read yet. I will probably start it after I finish Bret Hart's Autobiography.
