Buying a new television
Hey guys! ^_^
I have a question. My family and I are planning to buy a new t.v. (around 40-42 inches) but we want to save money. We want to buy it around Christmas time as a gift for my Grandma (she knows so it's not a surprise gift ). But we haven't bought a t.v. in almost 12 years. We're tired of the old one. The sound is horrible, we've gotten it fixed enough times for us to have a new one already, it's multicolor, tall, and wide. It was nice when we first got it but now it needs to retire. We don't know which brands are good (our old t.v. is a panasonic and it lasted awhile), but we don't know how to bargain shop for a t.v.
So my questions are:
Which television brands are the best?
How do I bargain shop for a television during the holidays?
Will we find better bargains online or in store?
Oh, we also have to buy it from a store that will install the t.v. We don't want it mounted but we do need the vcr/dvd player (video game systems etc.) and the house antenna hooked, so we need to know which stores offer that service. We would like to have the television hooked up before Christmas. We haven't been able to watch the Walt Disney World Christmas parade in it's true colors in three years. :x
Lord...there are so many choices and such good deals to be had.
My friend showed me a 42" deal on fat wallet a couple of weeks ago but I am SURE there are lots of blogs/internet posts about it.
I have a thirty-something inch wide screen one that's 1080p HD but I think it's only 60Hz not 120Hz.
If you want some things to look for: get 1080p HD, get 120Hz if you are into playing video games (or if you want the latest technology). I'm not an expert at all but I hope it helps.
Here's some reading on CNET that I found for you:
Thanks! This website helps to point me in the right direction. Now I can start doing research. xD
Awesome. I'm just glad I could help you.
From all the research I've been doing, I've discovered that Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic are the best brands. Right now I'm really interested in the Samsung UN40D6000S. I've also noticed the Sony Bravia KDL40EX620. I'm partial to the Samsung because that brand appears to be the most superior at the moment. Does anyoone have either of these televisions? If so, what do you guys thiink about it? :-)
