What is Ground Nutmeg?

What is Ground Nutmeg?
And is it something I can replace with something else?

Ground Nutmeg is a type of spice. You should be able to find it with the rest of the spices in your grocery store.

As far as a replacement, that depends on what your making.

Nutmeg is nutmeg, a spice. Personally, I find it WAY overused in holiday recipes sometimes.

I doubt that you could replace it with something else.

Jeff...hmmm, overused eh? I never considered that.

This is what I found online that translates in Norwegian. (I hope it's accurate!)

ground nutmeg- muskatt, malt

whole nutmeg - nutmuskattnøtt

I just googled it. You might double check to see if this info is correct. =)

Let us know how it turns out!

You don't have to use nutmeg in topping your eggnog. This is a good example of what I mean in saying that it is overused. You only need to dash a very small amount of nutmeg on your eggnog (if at all). There are those who pour it on like they're making nutmeg soup. It kills the flavor of the eggnog.

I've got a relative who lays the nutmeg on heavy in her pumpkin pie -- so much so that it just about twists your face to eat it. It's a pumpkin pie, folks.

People just need to back off the nutmeg a bit.

I agree with Jeff. I personally don't like the taste of nutmeg and I leave it out when I make eggnog.
