Tom Baker to record "A Christmas Carol"

This will interest all Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor Who fans. I was Googling one of Baker's television credits and stumbled across his website. His blog for Summer 2012 reports:

"BBC AudioGo have booked me to record Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol very soon and I'm working extremely hard on the wonderfully rich text. I do several hours a day and enjoy discovering new layers of meaning. It's a piece I know well as I have performed it live on several occasions. When we lived in Kent I performed it in two local churches and at Gad's Hill where Dickens lived near Rochester. I also read an excerpt on a Christmas television programme which my wife Sue directed. As soon as I know when the new BBC recording will be available from AudioGo, I will let you know."

Baker's rich voice, sense of humor, and sensitive acting should provide an interesting take on our favorite Dickens classic! Looking forward to this recording and hoping it's unabridged. Anyone who's heard his audiobook of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" knows he can do justice to a classic text.

UPDATE: The scheduled release date is November 13, 2012. Amazon is currently accepting pre-orders.

What a great spot Merrycarey. This has to be good. I could listen to Tom reading the phone book. Should be a wonderful match with a Christmas Carol.
