A Visit to Santa - 1963
I have become a big fan of www.archive.org, where I listen to a lot of old-time radio shows while working.
Today when I went to the site, there was a link to a video - "A Visit from Santa" - from 1963. It's about 12 minutes long, and obviously from that era where television was "new." No special effects (from the bits I have watched), but definitely fun if you are into the vintage or history of Christmas.
Take a look - would love to hear responses!
Just looking at the thumbnails, this looks like something that may have been released by Castle Films or Official Films a similar company for the home movie market. Some were original; many were one-reel abridgements of feature-length movies. For example, Castle Films issued a 10-minute abridgement of Alastair Sim's "Scrooge," as well as a few Christmas carol reels and children's reels (e.g., "The Night Before Christmas," "Howdy Doody's Christmas," etc.). I could run this past my husband and ask him if he can identify it.
This is a great find and mostly filmed in the Pittsburgh area. It shows a few seconds of Mr Wrinkle, my favorite Christmas character who had his own show on local TV.
