Does anyone have a favorite Christmas poem they can share? I am looking for something on the true meaning of Christmas.
To All That Have Christmas In There Heart,
You Will Never Be Apart.
Even Though We Are Separated By Miles,
We See You In All The Passing Smiles.
We Know You Have A Job To Do,
That Is What We Love About You.
Even Though You're Not At Home,
Remember You Aren't Alone.
For We Are There Fighting With You,
So We Can Be Safe & New.
Thank You For What You Do,
Even Though We Don't Know Who.
We Know We Can Now Be Safe,
Not Wanting To Be In Your Place,
We Want To Say,
Thank You For Giving Us Another Day.
To Everyone Fighting For Us Here At Home,
Remember You Are Never Alone.
For We Will Thank The Lord Above,
That You Can Have That Special Love.
The Love For Our Country & For Me ,
That We Can Live This Life So Free.
Thank You Is What We Can Say,
We'll Pray For You This Christmas Day.
I Wrote That Poem While On This Sight, I Hope It Is Ok.
I always liked this one:
There is a miracle in Christmas...
There is a stillness in the air
And excitement in the shining eyes
Of children everywhere
There is a miracle in Christmas
As each silent night enfolds
And we see again the promise
That this holy season holds
There's a wonder in traditions,
In the stories passed along
In our thoughtfulness towards others
And in voices raised in song
There is a reassuring comfort
In the joy glad tidings bring
And an inner peace from honouring
And praising Christ, the King
There's a magic in the season
In the kindnesses we do
Whether joys are shared by many
Or among a special few
There's awareness of our gratitude
For blessings from above
There's a miracle in Christmas
And the miracle is love
Jan Miller Girando
When I lost my mother in 1999. My very close knit family (Dad, my 5 brothers and my sister.) Were devasted to say the least. Although she passed away in March. Come the first Christmas was extremely tough. She loved Christmas and everything about it. From decorating to baking to entertaining. I found this poem online and gave it to my dad.
Christmas In Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
with tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring
for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place
Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?
I'll ask him to lift your spirit as I tell him of your love
so then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing
for I am spending Christmas in heaven and I'm walking with the King.
Eggnog, tinsel, falling snow,
Buttered rum and mistletoe,
Trimming trees and hanging lights,
The sound of carolers fills the night.
Shopping hours long and hard,
Visa phones and cancels card,
Unpaid bills and mounting debt,
Family gathers, depression sets.
Drinking starts. Harsh words are said,
Dysfunction rears its yuletide head.
Argument turns to shovin',
Drunken brother punches cousin.
Tree tips over popping lights,
Curtains catch, house ignites.
No one hears the reindeer cries,
Wedged in chimney, Santa dies.
Though he kicked,
And did perspire,
His chestnuts roasted,
On an open fire.
Probably not what you had in mind...Nevermind...
To all of you on the Card exchange, a poem is being sent to you, its short and sweet. If I could find the other one I'd post it.
I think this says it all :)
In todays day and time,
it's easy to lose sight,
of the true meaning of Christmas
and one special night.
When we go shopping,
We say "How much will it cost?"
Then the true meaning of Christmas,
Somehow becomes lost.
Amidst the tinsel, glitter
And ribbons of gold,
We forget about the child,
born on a night so cold.
The children look for Santa
In his big, red sleigh
Never thinking of the baby
Whose bed was made of hay.
In reality when we look into the night sky,
We don't see a sleigh
But a star, burning bright and high.
A faithful reminder,
Of that night so long ago,
And of the child we call Jesus,
Whose love, the world would know.
Santa's Prayer on
By Warren D. Jennings
The sleigh was all packed, the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt by the side of the bed.
"Dear Father," he prayed "Be with me tonight.
There's much work to do and my schedule is tight.
I must jump in my sleigh and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well that a reindeer can't fly.
I will visit each household before the first light,
I'll cover the world and all in one night.
With sleigh bells a-ringing, I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter of each little hoof.
To get in the house is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney of each child's heart.
My sack will hold toys to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless like the loaves and the fishes.
I will fill all the stockings and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
I can do all these things Lord, only through You,
I just need your blessing, then it's easy to do.
All this is to honor the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us, Your most Holy Son.
So to all of my friends, least Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job."
